The Pentagon is making preparations in the event of President Donald Trump ordering the military to build the southern wall, a defense official has said. Trump recently hinted that he might take this course of action in the light of an impasse in negotiations with Democrats resulting in the government shutdown.

So true. The military is almost always first to respond in the case of natural disasters. During Katrina, no one asked to send in the SJWs.
They could find that just by auditing any of their “overseas contingency operations.”
Or just intercept a few of the pallets headed for Iran.
Or sell a couple of their screwdrivers/toilets at half price...
Trump thrives on ALL HELL BREAKING LOOSE politically, I think he actually LOVES their heads exploding, I do believe though that if the military can build in other countries building to PROTECT the US and it’s citizens should be a NO BRAINER, their main duty is to protect the United States against ALL enemies both foreign AND domestic I don’t see how the courts can stop this, militaries job is to PROTECT American soil!!!!

There is over $20 BILLION in the DOD budget that is currently simply marked for CONSTRUCTION or some such... They are not tied to any specific project... So, can be utilized without any approvals of congress needed since Congress already authorized the money.
Only path the left will have is to sue claiming that this isn’t a national emergency and as such the President does not have the authority to do it... However, with human trafficking, drugs, gangs, and general violence demonstrably tied to the porous border, and constant attacks on border agents, as well as the video of illegals literally storming the gates etc... that’s a hard argument to make... though I am sure KAGAN, RBG and SOTOMAYOR will vote it isn’t an emergency, because they are not there to protect the constitution, but undermine it...

There are only 2 Army combat brigades remaining in Europe to ‘be brought home.’ The bulk of the Army is here in CONUS.

Yes, no doubt about that. The film we’re now seeing on the news was probably taken weeks or months ago, and the barriers may now be capped with wire. I hope so anyway.

Went to Tech School there,,,
An old Seabee here. I was on a C-130 crossing the Pacific. There were 4 of us travelling in our “utilities”. That was unheard of back then.
We went up to the flight deck and the pilot asked what branch we were in. We told him the Seabees. He said “Man, if we did a tenth of what you guys do we’d have medals all over our chests. I’ve flown into Vietnam and landed on an apron runway the Seabees had laid overnight. A month later I went back and they had built a damn city”.
Put 3 battalions on the border. Assuming there are still 600 or so to a battalion there would be almost 2,000 Bees building a wall. And every worker would be used. Start with the Engineering Aid. Builders to build the frame and poor the concrete after the Steel Workers had laid the cable. Construction Electrician to install the lighting. Utilities men to run all piping. Naturally it would all start with the Equipment Operators doing dirt prep.
Then add all the support folks like Corpsman and cooks. It would be like watching a bunch of bees building a hive.
Seabees Can Do!

The Bees will build concrete plants along the way. It won’t have to be delivered.
I’ve been telling folks all we need to do is start SeaBee teams at both ends and let them compete with each other to see who makes the most progress.

I like that idea. There could even be a ceremony where the final steel panel is put up, kind of like the meeting point of the Transcontinental Railroad at Promontory point.
The last panel could be gold plated a la the Golden Spike, with a giant letters that say “MAGA”, or “TRUMP”.
The halfway point could be right around El Paso, TX.

Actually using steel - you just pound the steel sections into the ground to whatever depth is set - this sort of steel construction goes very fast and is relatively cheep. No concrete needed.
