I think it was not that it was terrible. Some people actually choose to eat it. I think it was that it showed up time after time after time on the menu.
I think that’s it. In the 1800s, workmen, servants and prisoners in New England even got sick of lobster and demanded that it only be served to them a certain number of days per week. It wasn’t always/everywhere considered the delicacy that it is now, and anything gets old if it’s constant fare.
I like chipped beef on toast. Not crazy about lobster.
