It’s likely then, the researchers say, that people might be mixing up a food intolerance or sensitivity with a food allergy

I thought I had a food allergy, but it turned out to be an allergy to toothpaste! (Crest)

Yeah, I am intolerant of liver, tongue, and lima beans.

Did not stop the stepmonster from feeding the crap to me though. Thank God for a small dog that loved the stuff I sneaked off the plate and under the table to her.

Ah, no mention of peanuts.

How could the allergy that is all the rage escape being the biggest offender?

Most people also don’t know the difference between a medication allergy and an adverse reaction, either.

Or, more likely, the testing methods are flawed.

The author sounds kind of nitpicky to me.

If someone has adverse reactions to eating food, even if the symptoms don’t technically qualify as an allergy, so what if they call it an allergy? I won’t get any more excited about that than I get when someone calls condensed water vapor steam.

all I know is that about 7 years ago I started having excruciating itching on my legs when I went to bed.

I also started having incredible joint pain.

When I stopped eating wheat both went away 100%.

I knew it was an allergy of some sort because when I took Benedryl it relieved the itching and I could sleep.

And if I have any wheat, I can barely walk from the joint pain.

Or neuroses.

Biggest one is “gluten”...you’d think that over half the country had celiac disease or something!

Other than Poison Ivy, I don’t know of ANYTHING that I’m allergic to.

I feel left out of all the fun...

I know a bunch of people who claim that they are allergic to various foods, wheat being the most common. I would guess that most of them are victims of their own imaginations. But, my wife actually is deathly allergic to fish and seafood. Her throat swells up and she stops breathing and she just about died. That is a true allergic reaction.

I developed a seafood allergy about ten years ago. I thought that I had canned tuna stuck in my throat. Ends up my throat was swelling shut because of the reaction. I sure miss the stuff.

Allergies to anything simply means your body isn’t up to par.

And yet, this country has an obesity problem. Whatever people are allergic to, they seem to be getting over and around it with a vengeance!

Of course they are but they need someway to become a victim and this is a real easy way to join the victim club.
