You can see in the video tha the dog, who is named Reeses, starts barking and the deputy shoots her.
Reeses did survive the gunshot wound and her owner confirmed that she would never hurt anyone; he's just happy she is alive.
“Crying...when he shot that dog when he shot that dog I had lost it. I though he killed her and now I’m fearing he pulls the taser on me I’m backing away trying to get back into my house," said Doug Canady.

It is not easy to it a dog that small. Must have take many hours at the range. Do they have dog targets for practice shooting?
I thought about posting this yesterday. That was a clear case of criminal neglect and endangerment if I ever saw it. The homeowner taking the video was in the direct line of fire from this officer. Let alone shooting the dog who was no threat. Then he tried to force his way into the house with no warrant.
Then to top it off, his partner left an animal code violation ticket on the front porch when they left. Didn’t even have the balls to hand it to him. Not sure I have seen incompetence like this in quite awhile.

I hate to go against the grain, but all Chihuahuas should be shot. They bark 25 hours a day 8 days a week and until they manage to sneak under the fence and get eaten by the pit bull next door they have been tormenting non-stop for months, they just never shut up.
I have had to shoot dogs that needed to be shot. But this was blatant abuse of power, position, and a firearm.
They are yappers and ankle biters, not pit bulls. Stomp them if you need to, coppers. They pose no harm.
Their bark is worst than their bite. He’s a pussy and he’s so sued.
Obviously, he was in fear for his life.
I hope that a gang of teenagers beat him within an inch of his life at his next job as a mall cop.
If anything good can be said about this incident, he was fired before he shot an unruly child or a cranky senior citizen.

While I would otherwise completely endorse the removal of yappy useless annoying little “dogs”, law enforcement personnel should never be allowed to shoot them out of hand for no good reason, especially when there’s no way in hell the yappy little barking rat could even get through your boots. The officer should be terminated (as in fired) with prejudice.
Cranky senior citizens aren’t to be screwed with. I shave one every morning. Then get dressed. Part of the attire is an H&K p30sk.
