ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WTVD) -- McDonald's worker Yasmine James remains on leave after a brawl with a customer, allegedly about a straw, was caught on camera.
The viral video shows the customer, Daniel Taylor, reach over the counter and grab James by the shirt. James responded by punching Taylor several times. He is facing battery charges.
James said she's not physically hurt, but emotionally scarred after being left to defend herself.
"I didn't have any control over my body when he grabbed me," James said. "Like, I'm scared. Like, why are you grabbing me? I just didn't understand his intentions."
James said she had to call 911 after the attack because the manager didn't know what to do.
James has hired an attorney and they are now working to hold McDonald's accountable.

OMG, it was a white dude. No wonder this is getting so much air play.
You go, girl. Give him a quarter pounder of your mind...with cheese.
Hmmm, no doubt. Pay day.
He’s not going to get a dime, let alone a free coupon. He clearly grabbed the woman first and she had every right to defend herself.
Yeah. McDonald’s is somehow responsible for the behavior of its customers.
If this suit is a winner, it’s time to close every single business in America.
The girl hired an attorney. She is James.
You know, that movie was way ahead of its time.
I thought the girl was awesome and the guys around her should be ashamed of themselves as they stood there and did nothing.
It was the last straw.
He (the customer) is not suing, she (the McDonald’s employee) is. Keep up. 8>)
I don’t know what to make of it, but you can almost empathize with Michael Douglass. Too bad he doesn’t take more after his father instead of the typical Hollywood liberal.
Kirk Douglas had no sense until late in life. He wasn’t an example when his son was still impressionable.
“If this suit is a winner, its time to close every single business in America.”
Her boss “didn’t know what to do.” That’s a slam dunk for her; MacD’e has deep pockets and she has a clear winner of a case. Cha-Ching! She doesn’t have to worry about contacting an attorney, she probably can’t sleep with the numbest of calls she’s getting.
Didnt seem like it at the time. I think the movie and coinage of the term angry white man/men appeared at roughly the same time.
It was set in LA, most of it on location. People in LA act like the guy in the movie surprisingly often going back many decades. And unfortunately it gets much uglier than what happened in that movie.
“Customer” or not, you assault someone and you can expect to have a response. McDonald’s, by placing the “victim” on “leave” exposes their lack of protections for their employees. As for the so-called men standing there, watching the assault unfold, they ought to be ashamed AND on leave for impersonating men.
The way he caught his throat cancer? Well, let's just say it wasn't due to smoking. It was due to the oral thingy one does to women.
The movie came out right after the LA riots and crap happened. It was perfect for that time. One of Douglas’ best films.
