One person is dead and three others are injured after they were shot by a resident of an Arizona home they were trying to burglarize, police said.
The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call at approximately 1:38 a.m. Thursday and discovered that four individuals were shot after breaking into a home.
According to a news release, Edith Guerrero, 36, Jaden James, 18, Leonardo Gonzalez, 27, and Jessica Aynes, 28, woke the sleeping occupants as they entered.

Very true. But counting on ‘one shot, one kill’ in an adrenaline-pumped 0-dark thirty shoot out is asking a lot of most people. With one in the tube my Mossberg gives me six chances to get it right. Not what I’d like to grab if I had four intruders.

Now the other three thug burglars will be charged with murder as well.
I haven’t patterned #4 buck at in the house distances but it’s an interesting way to spend some time on it at the range. Down a dark hallway it’s a pretty nasty load though. I like the idea I’m not leaving my house and getting to the neighbors house. Hot pistol loads and 223 are more likely to do that. The 9mm is back up to the buckshot for me. Each to his own. You ain’t armed you lose period.

I sleep soundly too, so I cant say how I would do either.
9mm hydroshoks are pretty nasty in a 15+1 pistol.
What kind of residence on that street though? You know what I mean?

My choice of shotgun shells is OO buck, low recoil. Other people have different choices as you say.
.45 cal aren’t bad either. Just want everything to stay on the premises. My neighbor owes me ten bucks.

I have pistols in reach, but in a situation like this, I would rely on my Smith and Wesson.

If they use a barrel like the 870, mosseburg might build a 18” for it. They make 870 barrels. They make every barrel imaginable for the 500 mosseburg.
I know just what you mean. My 00 buck punches silver dollar sized holes at 30 ft. so I need to aim well same as any other gun. As for overshooting, my SKS is full and handy but heaven help me if I miss and don’t account for a backstop.
Other than those I could grab a .45 with 8 or a 9mm with 8. Either one might be safer indoors than the first two. But if I have to shoot I have to shoot.
OTOH, if the intruder doesn’t turn any lights on I might just go hunting with my kukri.
Probably make my eyes roll around a couple of times. :-)
