Hey, isn’t that . . . Crooner Tony Bennett in the House for the swearing-in of his longtime friend and soon-to-be Speaker Nancy Pelosi?
The 92-year-old musical legend turned heads in the halls of the Capitol as he approached Pelosi’s office, a spy tells us, wearing a Congress-spiffy suit and accompanied by a small group of friends. Later he was spotted among Pelosi’s guests in the speaker’s box above the House floor. Also on her guest list: fashion guru Tim Gunn and Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead.
This isn’t the first rodeo for the “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” singer: He attended the California Dem’s first swearing-in as speaker back in 2007.(snip)
Bennett serenaded Pelosi with his famous ode to her district Wednesday night at an exclusive dinner at the Italian embassy with a guest list that included former president Bill Clinton and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton.

Bennett participated in some of the most brutal, house-to-house fighting seen by the Western allies. That experience so effected him that he became a pacifist. And so I think he naturally gravitates towards the political party that seems to be the most “peaceful”.
I wonder if anyone has ever told him that Vietnam was a Democrat war.

Dangerous, and stupid. Bad combination. Let’s start with her winery’s exclusive access to water-— this is as political as it gets— right in the middle of CA’s worst ever drought. A fact, and she and Jerry Brown— well, don’t go there.
I can respect his opinion. However, his “aggressiveness” may have saved American lives (his fellow soldiers and civilians). Dropping the bombs on Japan might be considered aggressive but it was the right thing to do and because of that decision and Bennetts actions, we can live in our warm comfortable homes without fear. We all benefitted from this “agression.”
You can say that about Vietnam, but it was the Republicans who dragged us into all the other wars last century.
Well, except Korea.
And except World War II.
And WWI was the Democrats too.
But the GOP dragged us into the others...
Usually you hear or read the GOP "seized" the House
or Senate or the Oval Office or a Governorship.
It's never that the people elected them or
or the people chose them over the Democrats.
The press tries to create an impression that
Republicans are in office illegitimately or they
somehow were put in office because their voters
are uneducated simpletons.
