Daryl Dragon, the hat-wearing musician familiar to 1970s music fans as half of the bestselling duo the Captain & Tennille, died Tuesday in Prescott, Arizona at age 76.

Dragon’s ex-wife, Toni Tennille, “was with him as he took his last breath,” said Harlon Boll, a spokesperson for the singer. In a statement, Tennille said, “He was a brilliant musician with many friends who loved him greatly. I was at my most creative in my life when I was with him.”

Dragon died of renal failure, according to Boll.

Oh man, that too.

A piece of my childhood went with Mean Gene :(

Hulk and all the rest of the wrestlers of his era owe a great debt to Mean Gene. He was so cool and I think got accidentally tagged a few times in the middle of staged shouting and slapping matches.

>>Sadly, the Captain passed away while waiting to perform at the never ending Aretha Franklin memorial.<<

I don’t think he was a pole dancer like the other “artists.”

Last night, very bad toothache (seeing dentist for emergency work tomorrow) I drank a few shots of whisky...which I NEVER do. I’m not a whisky drinker.

But it did take away the pain for the night.

And it did encourage me to sing a few bars of Emotion/BeeGees Samantha Sang. ‘77

I could go back, easily. Music then was great.

Just read the Wiki bio and it said he was “not being affectionate.” They divorced in 2014. They were NOT young, so the reason is odd.

People change. Sometimes you marry out of, say, insecurity. But then maybe you grow out of that and want a healthy, non-co-dependent relationship. If your spouse stays stuck, you may have a real problem. I know from personal experience after 42 years of marriage. That and the angry contentiousness of female rebellion ingrained by lies and a messed-up upbringing but cheered on and supported by a messed up society and the destructive Womens’ Movement.

I don’t buy it.

Female independence and rebellion from the man is at the root of most of these divorces.

I’m sorry that happened to you. Feminazism has probably destroyed more marriages than anything. All while blaming the men.

It looks like Tony tennille’s issue was the opposite, that he didn’t change. I researched a little and she said that he wasn’t affectionate and wasn’t interested in changing. Sounds like he wasn’t involved in their lives. I have to admire her, she sure did give it a good try. 39 years!

Yes, and we still had 60’s cars and early 70’s cars in near-mint condition.

Of course, there were the gas crunch cars....

I wound up with this song on an 8-track - gift from Secret Santa girl where I was flipping hamburgers...a fun song.

Jeff Baxter singing, too.

And we had musicians that produced great music
