The Cincinnati Bengals are looking for a new head coach for the first time in 16 years. At one of his final news conferences, now-former head coach Marvin Lewis endorsed just one man as his replacement: former Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson, who joined the Bengals staff after the Browns fired him in October. Jackson racked up a 3-36-1 record over three seasons, but Lewis had nothing but positive things to say about his old friend Hue.

On the heels of Lewis’ glowing endorsement comes this news from NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport: Hue Jackson may be interviewed by the Bengals as soon as Wednesday.

The coach of the Bengals answers directly to the owner, Mike Brown. Bopomer Esiason has complained that Brown runs the team like a parochial, small town operation.

“Is their a code in the NFL that rewards failures?”

Yes there is. It’s the main reason the commish got a ‘hugh’ pay raise and contract renewal despite sagging attendance and TV viewership.

Jackson is a coach like Mitt Romney is a Republican.

I totally agree. This is so out of hand and over the top. Bad enough all the wailing and gnashing of teeth over the black coaches who were fired with zero regard to their records and only to their race, but on the NFL network on Monday, some knucklehead in a roundtable discussion stated that the offending owners needed to be forced to sit across a table from people that don’t look like them. It’s stunning how an idiot like that can believe these highly successful businessman have never encountered a minority in their lives. Naturally, no one challenged him on that absurd assertion.

Only team without an indoor practice facility. Why? Cause Brown doesn’t want one.

On the now-defunct Financial News Network, they had a contest where high schoolers would manage fantasy portfolios, with the winners getting their names mentioned on TV. The talking heads got spoofed good one time and never realized it. One of the winners’ names was Hugh Rection. The submitter had left out the middle initial of G, but we got it.

Did Hugh Jorgan come in second?

Why not Hugh Jackman? I’m pretty sure he can play the Wolverine AND coach a NFL to victory.

He’s got the ridiculous and racist Rooney Rule in his favor. He’s worthless and useless, except that he’s a Negro,

He came from Cincinnati I believe, soaked up a few million in paychecks while in Cleveland, and after his con expired he went back to his buddies in Cincinnati. Hue never passed the smell test from day One.

Yep, that’s what happens when you insist on sending a 160 pound scat back into the midst of the interior line, and insult Bernie Kosar’s Wife in the locker room in front of team mates for no good reason except that Kosar was a better QB than Upchuck was a coach.

Failing to interview a member of a protected class would reflect badly on team management.
