Post Office - Where is Trump's photo? Is there a requirement for the presidential photo placement?

Posted on 12/31/2018 9:48:24 AM PST by Phillyred

I am in a post office in Willow Grove, PA and cannot find the photo of our president. Anyone know what the law is for placement of presidential photos in rhe post office? I remember Obama's freak face being very prominent.

That is a good question. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a presidential photo in a post office. Here’s an interesting webpage on the topic.

I regularly do fire inspections of schools, public and charter. In several classrooms I have noticed portraits of all the US Presidents lining a portion of a wall. Even after 2 years years into his presidency, I have yet to see Donald Trump’s picture added to any of these. They all begin with Washington and stop with Obama. Then again, we’re talking about teachers.

There are 30,825 post offices in the U.S., and a longstanding though little-known regulation from the U.S. Postal Service prevents photos of the president or vice president from being displayed at any of them.

The official Postal Operations Manual specifically bans photographs of the President, postmaster general or any elected official.

Also, African Americans (13% of the US population) seem to be demographically over-represented (21%) in the USPS workforce which may explain Obama’s photo being posted there.
