CBS Los Angeles, reports that a cooler airmass and light winds will stick around into New Years Eve.
On Sunday, temperatures throughout the Southland ranged between 20s and 30s to 40s by 8 a.m., with the days highs into the 60s. Freeze warnings and frost advisories were issued for parts of Southern California but were expected to expire.
Come Tuesday, hundreds of thousands of revelers were expected to line the streets of Pasadena for the Rose Parade.
Despite the cold, bonfires are not permitted along the parade route, and small, professionally manufactured barbecues are permitted so long as they are elevated at least 1 foot off the ground and positioned 25 feet from buildings and other combustibles.

We used to hang on Orange Grove on New Year’s Eve as kids & teens. I’d also like seeing the floats driving around in the middle of the night as they would get lined up on Orange Grove.
Is this satire? I live in northern Michigan. What is “bone chilling”?
Wasn’t the North American Continent supposed to be mostly washed away by now?
I lived in Southern Cal a few times, Orange County and San Diego - they get out the parkas if the temps go below 60 degrees.
I hear ya. Californians are so spoiled. This time of year, people in CA hear 30-40 degrees F and freak out about “freezing.” Meanwhile, folks in MI, WI, MN etc., would consider the same temps “summery.”
Ironically, the first Roses Parade took place in 1890 and was staged by people who were originally from the Northeast and Midwest who wanted to show off how great the weather was in Southern California during the winter time..... so great that they could grow roses and oranges in January and February.
I guess there was more global warming back then..... Must be the climate change LOL.
Ive had to use my electric blanket the last few nights. Ventura
That sounds pretty harsh.
Did you have enough salt to keep the ice melted from your sidewalk?! :)
Actually where Im at in flyover country, its been much warmer than normal.
In the 30s and 40s .
Not in Los Angeles. It stays pretty close to the same temp. Varies, but not a lot. Already this winter is cold. I have an electric blanket, a heater and 2 dogs.
My best girlfriend from high school is going. I’m going to meet her and her 3 traveling companions. I’m 70 years old so we haven’t seen each other n decades.
Not in this part of the country usually. This is a nasty bit.
So much for the promised Global Warming
Ohio State will win the Climate Change Bowl.
We’re not used to it for cripes sake!!! Weather all year is mild ...usually.
Wow as if it has never been cold for the Rose Parade before! The record was 32 degrees in 1952 and in December 2014 the LA Slimes was scare mongering that 2015’s could be the coldest ever.............as if we have records that go back more than an eye blink in geologic time.
Haha. Im on my boat. No sidewalks just floating docks. Maybe it just gets colder on the water....and weve had some wind too.
Seriously one of the colder NY days I have experienced in SoCal. It will still be in the 60s in the afternoon but just a couple hours.
Since you have to arrive and find parking before dawn, that is the cold part. Its so doable if youre from a colder clime. If youre from here, its freezing, though down and mittens and snow boots will keep you warm. Its very fun to do and one day I want to do it again. The floats are absolutely AMAZING with the naked eye. No photo or best tv does it service.
That is so sweet! Have fun with your old friends!
