Alabama and Clemson will meet in the CFP National Championship for the third time in the last four years -- and the Crimson Tide are once again the favorites.
Alabama has been installed as a six-point favorite over Clemson for in the championship game on Jan. 7 (ESPN, 8 p.m. ET) in Santa Clara, California.
Alabama handled Oklahoma and will face Clemson again for the College Football Playoff championship.
College football's top two programs will once again meet to decide the national championship next Monday after No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Clemson both easily dispatched with their semifinal opponents Saturday.
It is the fourth straight season the Crimson Tide and Tigers will meet in the playoff. Alabama beat Clemson 24-6 in a semifinal last season, and the teams split their two meetings in the title game in 2016 and 2017.
Alabama reached the championship game for a fourth straight year with a 45-34 win over Oklahoma on Saturday in the Orange Bowl. Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban will be looking for a record seventh national championship.
Alabama has been favored in its last 53 games and 126 of its past 127. The Crimson Tide were a consensus 1-point underdog at Georgia in 2015.
Barring dramatic line movement, Clemson will be an underdog for only fifth time in the last three seasons.
The Tigers rolled past Notre Dame 30-3 in the Cotton Bowl on Saturday to advance to their third national championship game in the last four years. The Clemson route was costly for the betting public, which sided heavily with the underdog Fighting Irish. Among several large bets on Notre Dame was a $60,000 money-line wager placed Saturday morning at a William Hill sportsbook.

Here’s a tip buy some F-—ing comp insurance. Stop giving the fans a second rate product
Get some manners before you address me again.
wasn’t addressing you but the universities and glamour players, no problem, good bye.
Alabama probably wanted to avoid injuries and not show Clemson their full repertoire. Whenever Oklahoma got close, Alabama just turned it back on again. They’re that good.
Did you notice that Alabama started doing 'cute' plays with both quarterbacks in the game at the same time.
I'm in Alabama and there was some talk locally about Alabama practicing plays with the goal of Tua throwing Jalen a touchdown pass. Or, maybe, even Quinnen Williams. They started making mistakes during that period.
Doesnt mean he is going to grad school at Alabama. Its been widely reported he is transferring for his last years, with the blessing of Lou Saban. Just not announcing where until after the Final.
Personally, I think Jalen would have a better chance at an NFL career if he changed positions. Playing receiver, safety, or linebacker might be his best positions in the NFL.
Well considering last season Michigan kicked our butts, it's definitely an improvement.
What’s the difference between Notre Dame and Lucky Charms?
Lucky Charms actually belongs in a bowl.
You are so right.
Notre Dame and Texas are always hyped and way over rated in the polls. Can’t wait for the UGA vs t.u. game.
UGA played Bama well. Go Dogs!
Coming from a Gator fan I appreciate the sportsmanship in your comment.
As a Michigander, I hope your Gators are as good as they appeared against Michigan but I could argue that Michigan didn't even belong in the top 15 in the country.
Maybe they were judging Michigan by their coach's $7.5 million per year salary plus additional benefits.........
Bowl games are tricky. Michigan obviously didn’t care for it, whereas Mullen got his team pumped up for it.
Hopefully, we’ll get a surge in recruiting, considering how down FSU is, and now with Miami looking for a new coach, we should own the State of Florida.
I hope you do, my cousin is a Gator grad.......
Good one, funny and true.
It was on ESPN 2. For me the game was on ESPN, 4 coaches giving live analysis on ESPN 2, and the multiple angle was on ESPN 3.
I don’t get ESPN3. That’s a shame. I’d like to hear coaches do MSTK3 on live ball games.
That was the impression I got too. I never once felt a threat from the Sooners. But I'll tell you all right now, the points that OK scored were hard earned. They played with a lot of heart even when the knew all was lost. They were by far the best offense Bama has faced this year. Kudos.
I agree that it would make an interesting addition to any big game, having a couple of top 25 coaches comment live.
You could tell the gears were turning in each of their heads as they watched and added commentary. Always working...
Interesting thoughts. Hurts is actually freakishly strong, so linebacker might be a good fit. I'm not sure he has the speed (he may) for a receiver or safety.
Plenty of speed for a slot receiver.
No guessing that Im a Bama alumni and fan. Clemson had no reason to run up the score and take risks of injuries to their core players. So Clemson just backed off, played many other players. I havent been a big coach Dabo fan but since he will eventually be the head coach at Alabama when Satan leaves, I am looking for reasons to not dislike him.
It made no difference if Clemson beat the team that shouldnt have been there 30-3 or 50-3. ND showed everyone they we a media pick for regional, Tv views only.
Alabama
Clemson
Georgia
Oklahoma
Ohio st
Of those 5 should have been there. My personal opinion was Georgia was good enough to win, more so than any other team besides Bama and Clemson.
Dark horses could have been Florida and Washington .
No one else was close. ND was embarrassing imho.
