It is not rare to see an EBT card customer with a basket full of junk food, sweets and cigarettes.
I worked at a grocery store back in the food stamp days. The abuse is real by some.
That said there were some very legit cases of need.
Yep, and typically with a tat-sleeve. i have nothing against tatoos, but if you all inked up AND depend on public assistance, your priorities are all F**Ked up
Dollar Stores in New Orleans are in high crime neighborhoods and are robbed daily. They are more black ATM’s than places to shop. Big items to steal are laundry detergent/cleaning supplies and baby items. Guess the resale value on the street is high. Armed robberies are so common I’m sure a day without one is strange.
Our 99c stores here sell fresh produce, eggs, milk, bread, etc. you can actually grocery shop at them. My white friend was recently broke, on the bones of her azz, and we went to the 99c store to do her grocery shopping. Its obvious thes journalists have never been in one and are just relying on what theyve heard.
I’ve been in dollar stores. There are canned vegetables and fruit in addition to canned pasta and soup.
You can get shelf-stable somewhat healthy foods there. It isn’t necessary to buy fresh produce to eat healthy.
Ahh, the EBT cards are the real problem!
