Flu activity generally peaks between December and February.

Influenza Report (includes map)
Nationwide, 40% of the population has said "No" to the flu vaccine.
The most recent illegal immigrant death of an 8 year old boy due to influenza has drawn concern for influenza.

I seem to recall seeing that maybe 80,000 died last year of influenza? Whatever the number, it was higher than usual. On bad years, the death rate is usually about 50,000, and can be as low as a few thousand on good years.
I went to the doctor recently, and one of the first questions they asked was, did I have a flu shot? Of course I did. I saw people lined up for shots a couple of months ago, and joined them.

Since I'm in flu red Colorado, I may get the shot for the first time since 1972.
Mostly because they actually matched the vaccine strain with the prevailing flu type this year.

40% have ‘wised up’...as for me? No flu shot; no flu. Go figure.

Got it a week ago and it’s still has me foggy-headed, tired easy, and a nagging productive cough with sinus clogging. I’m wondering how long it will be before it’s all gone.

Effective or not against the flu, this year’s vaccine gave me a hell of a sore arm and a couple of days of general malaise.

Good thing I got my shot.

This flu is nasty. Take care of yourself. Hand washing is imperative

If I were in CO or GA..might be tempted to wear a mask.
Definitely avoid as much direct contact with strangers.
And wash hands frequently.
