...its almost like I go into a sleep walk mode when I post things. Then when I read them back, I end up catching some of the most head-slapping mistakes.

That's why I proofread before posting. Always.

But, that's just me. So many people these days have little to no concern about using proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation in written communication.

It's disheartening to watch the language devolve and coarsen as it's doing. I see it as a symptom of the broader unraveling of western culture.

I agree. I especially disturbed by the development of emojis. They’re a form of idiot hieroglyphics.
