'Holmes & Watson' Currently Sits at Rare Zero Percent Rotten Tomatoes Score

The John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell team-up was not screened in advance for critics, so subsequent reviews will likely be added that may affect the score.

Holmes & Watson — the latest team-up from Step Brothers duo John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell — has earned a rare (albeit, likely unwelcome) feat.

The movie currently sits at a zero percent on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, as of 8 a.m. PT with 12 reviews accounted for. (The movie was not screened in advance for critics, so subsequent reviews will likely be added that may affect the score.)

Reilly and Ferrell parody Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detectives, leading a cast that includes Kelly Macdonald, Rebecca Hall and Ralph Fiennes.

The Hollywood Reporter's critic Frank Scheck wrote of the holiday comedy that released Dec. 25: "Numerous talented British thespians are wasted in supporting roles in this Christmas turkey that, not surprisingly, wasn't screened in advance for critics. Although making them troop out to theaters Christmas morning is something of which even Ebenezer Scrooge wouldn't have approved."

The movie opened at a crowded Christmas Day box office, placing No. 4 behind Aquaman, Bumblebee and Mary Poppins Returns, and earning $6.4 million.

As 2018 comes to a close, two other films released this year earned zero percent fanfare: The Amber Heard-starring mystery adaptation London Fields and John Travolta's Gotti, the biopic about the late mobster John Gotti.

"At least that movie had two men who are great actors."

I love Ben Kingsley. Just saw him as Adolf Eichmann in "Operation Finale". He's going to be in a noir drama series on Epix titled "Our Lady, LTD." It's supposed to air sometime in 2019. I like Michael Caine too, but he hasn't been making as many movies as Kingsley has, but then he is 85.

He’s mildly amusing when there are absolutely no other options. Fortunately there are lots of options these days.

And let’s not forget Gene Wilder and Marty Feldman in ‘Sherlock Holmes Smarter Brother’.

There actually was a ‘Sherlock Holmes Smarter Brother’ in the novels, Mycroft Holmes. He wasn't a detective but was good at solving problems................

Sherlock Holmes is an open copyright, I forget what they call it, public domain? Meaning you can write a Sherlock Holmes story and you don’t have to pay for the rights.

So what I was thinking, for all you writers out there, can someone write a story called “Sherlock Holmes and the case of Seth Rich”?

“Dear God Watson, how can the police show up mere seconds after the shooting and not catch the killer?”

“Have you ever heard of the Clinton crime family Holmes?”

I pretty much won’t go see any movies these days. I haven’t been in a theater for several years.

The comedies these days all seem to be full of fart or bathroom jokes. I’ll pass.

The dramas all seem to spew some PC crap. Pass on that, too.

The action films are all remakes or sequels. Pass.

The only thing that seems to be original are the family oriented stories (not animated) on very small budgets.

Time for Hollywood to be swept out into the Pacific.

Are you serious? Go out and rent it today, it’s one of the best movies ever made, just intense as hell. Burt Reynolds considered it the best movie he was ever in, I agree.

Don't care much for Farrell, he's not funny.

Agreed. Why is it that almost all Hollywood comedic actors are not funny?

Jim Carrey, Will Farrell, Steve Carrell, Ben Stiller, etc. These are supposed to be the hot "funny guys" in Hollywood but almost all their comedic efforts are not only decidedly unfunny but cringe-worthy.

I like slapstick comedy

I have really loved quite a few of Ferrell's movies. "Elf", "Talladega Nights", "Step Brothers", "Old School"...

Not always looking for great art in a comedy, just laughs. Even tho' he's a big, dopey lib, at least his films are non-PC for the most part.

I found Gotti on Amazon Prime. I watched it, being a big mob movie buff, even knowing that it wouldn't be good. It was worse than I thought. Travolta was so stunningly bad he should be embarrassed.

Glad to see that I am not completely alone here.

There is nothing funnier to me than a bunch of people who think that they are some sort of film connoisseurs all banding together to condemn a mostly innocuous movie. While at the same time they make no comments about films produced specifically to brainwash our youth, and also ignore films that are basically porn and films that aggrandize almost unimaginable violence and murder. It seems to me like priorities are getting a little confused here.

The worst phrase I remember in this movie was a little kid who said, “No sh*t Sherlock.” The scenes where they broke the case holding killer bees, wacked the queen in the head with the antique camera, and many others where they made fun of uppity English high society were pretty funny. And Ferrell and Reilly are just a funny looking pair to start with.

“The Upside”, looks good. But I’ll wait for Amazon or Netflix to run it. Sometimes the only good parts of movies are in the trailers, which is always a bummer to find out.

Jim Carrey has never made me laugh. His insanity always shows up almost immediately, and not in a good way.

El Diablo and the Magic Man. They were finny in Talladega Nights and Stepbrothers.

I won’t pay to see it but will watch it when it hits the TV screen.

The trailer. Sure isn’t what I’d pay to go see, but then, VERY few movies are.
