I can’t believe this happened in Snohomish County. Guarantee there will be no follow up, and each will be arrested for discharging their firearms within city limits.

Mark my words.

It’ all John Wayney until they lock you up in the cell next to the thieves for reckless endangerment etc. The thieves say they hit the guy because he was pointing a gun at them. They say they fired because the thieves hit their friend, the Lawyers make money, weapons are confiscated, (try getting them back) and people make comments without considering the aftermath of drawing and firing a firearm. Shooting at shop lifters is a bad idea. Draw your cell phone and get a picture of the license plate and call the cops. If I was these guys I’d fade out of sight and hope my fellow hero’s do the same. IMO

Well maybe they’ll post the Hero’s Parade pictures after the local sheriff gives them the Citizen of the Month Award. Can’t wait to see them. If they find them I’d love to read the interview transcripts. “look Officer I thought the nail gun was loaded. Blah blah blah”. Hope they got good lawyers. Maybe the sheriff will let it drop.

Seems like a good time to post this, again:

Don't Talk to Cops Part 1, in which a law professor tells you to NEVER talk to the police.

Don't Talk to Cops Part 2, in which a police officer tells you to NEVER talk to the police.

Detaining thieves is not being a “vigilante”.

Thieves have no right to safe thievery.

Thieves have no right to escape detention.

Thieves have no right to run someone over.

Is there risk to pulling your gun? Do you own every bullet that you fire? Do you have to live with the consequences?

Yes.

Marysville is about five miles from where I live. I would have probably done the same thing.

Much to my surprise, it is just a little east of Puget Sound and just a little north of Seattle the San-Fran-Freak-O of the North.

Fixed it. /s

For what it's worth, I live in the next town north (unincorporated area, i.e. the county of Snohomish) of Marysville, i.e., Stanwood.

Snohomish: pronounced Snow-Home-ish.

Would you leave the scene? Would you go back and talk to the sheriff now? Or are you saying you would have done the same thing these people did?

I would have intervened. I would have not left. Truthfully, if they tried to run me over, I would have not shot at the tires.

They’ll say they were in fear for their lives, because a person was pointing a gun at them. This is a nightmare for everyone for some nail guns. It’s a lousy situation for the good guys. Lawyers will make money, prosecutors will prosecute and lives will be changed. Be nice if the sheriff dropped the issue. We’ll see. Never stand in front of a running car pointing a gun at the occupants. IMO

No, I rise to educate those who think that a concealed carry makes them the white knight that will stamp out crime.

When in fact they become criminal because they do not know the law.

Obviously you have absolutely no knowledge as to what the laws are and it gauls me to see people who do not know say things that cause even less knowledgeable people to get in trouble.

The laws in the various states make it plain that once the thief turns his back on you and is leaving the scene, he is absolutely off limits for all but badge carrying LEO’s.

Even if he has not retreated, you had better not shoot him unless he demonstrates a clear and creditable danger to your life.

In the state of Texas, not so much.

The problem with all of these comments is that:

When you are in court charged with a criminal act, your opinion is worth zero. It might be correct ethically but the DA will beat you down with the law.

Know the law in your state or be prepared to spend thousands of dollars on lawyers, days or months waiting to find out your fate, probably lose your job and after all of that spending time in jail.

I think all of the big chains have security cameras in their parking areas.

My wife had substantial damage to her car while she was in a Home Depot. The guy hit her car so hard his would not make it out of the lot, but he had a beautiful excuse.

First thing the cop did was go to the office and look at the video.

Problem solved.

The “heroes” are very likely on video and the public statements by the cops are likely an effort to allow them to get credit for showing up on their own and make life easier for the cops as well.

Time will tell.

I suspect that if there is no video, the cops will look at all of the credit card purchases made within the previous hour or so and simply pay a visit to each of the card owners.

If only one of the shooters used his card, the jig is up.

And don’t forget, there are cameras inside most business as well as outside.

You are probably wasting your time. Great points but deaf years. A court date will be a lousy way to get the education. All these lounge lawyers ought to read “Deadly Force” by Mosaad Ayoob. Might save some time. Hard time.

Thanks.

I left for dinner and returned thinking the thread was still alive so I thought those posts would be mixed in with other comments.

Since the thread is dead, I will post no more.

But you are correct. No reasoning with a person who thinks he is a second coming Rambo.
