Anyone Else Alone on Christmas Eve?
From Skooz's Comfy Home | 12/24/2018 | Skooz

Well, this seems to have become an annual event. Alone on Christmas Eve, reaching out to my fellow FReepers.

Myself, I have my daughter's hermit crab for company. And some great classical Christmas music. And, a little later, George Bailey and friends via BluRay.

Anyone else spending this evening solo?

Put a few drops of vanilla extract in your paint and it went smell like paint for a week.

If he hadn’t died in ‘81, my brother would have been 70 today.

As usual, my sister reminded me of this.

Thanks, I’ll try it. Sounds similar to my recipe that I lost. However, mine didn’t call for fennel seed.

My wife and I are spending
Christmas Eve at home together.

Thanks to the internet, we are not completely alone.

The Creator of Heaven and Earth,
The Great I Am
is Here.
Jesus has healing in His Arms.
He Calls to our Souls,
Come,
Drink of the Fountain.
Come,
Eat, I am the Bread of Life.

May God Bless and Keep You,
Everyone.

I spent 5 Chriatmas’s alone after my divorce. You are not alone we are with you.

Spending my third post-divorce Christmas. My boys (23 & 21) are here with me. We're relaxing a bit. Nothing big planned tonight, just enjoying being together. Tomorrow we cook!

I started a conservative Thanksgiving dinner in NYC last year. Only 5 people, because a bunch got invitations elsewhere at the last minute, but this year there were 11 and they had a great time. New friendships, the lot.

Next year will be even better.

Isn’t it funny how just when you need them they disappear? The PC notion of agism is not just BS.

Don’t be that negative about yourself. It is never too late to meet someone special. Believe, and that will attract her right to you. It will happen to me, and to you. I am too busy caring for others to have someone but one day I will.

Sorry for your loss.

There is a perfect country song about special events without someone lost. You Should Be Here by Cole Swindell. I love it. Makes you smile and tear up. I think of my unbelievable cousin who was taken far too young a few years ago.

My father would have been 105. He died at 95. He was in a lot of pain with bed sores and his knees, plus he missed my mother, so it is OK that he is gone.

But he was Christmas to me. He had the old-fashioned spirit and would lead us in carols as he drove us around the city to visit relatives on Christmas Eve. They weren’t just songs on the radio to us.

The spirit was real. The old Italian magic of Christmas Eve, when miracles take place because the Messiah is about to be born. There is nothing like it today. No anger, pouting, whining, or crying for weeks before Christmas-—parents and children alike. The true spirit of joy, like an observation during mourning but the reverse! No one who has not observed it can understand it.

My uncle Nazereno saw a miracle through the kitchen window, a string of lights where there weren’t any lights. He pointed it out and I saw it too.

No Christmases will ever match those. When the family got too big, they had to stop. No more old folks, the ones who remembered.

Agreed that being without someone to drag down the mood is far better. There are 6 of us here and no one is dragging anyone down. I’d rather be a little partner-lonely than trapped in misery.

And the next day someone would always say, sadly but not totally sadly, more as a statement of fact, la festa è passata.
