Therapy horses help college students, ailing children de-stress

On a recent visit to Northwestern University, dozens of students stood patiently waiting as if a celebrity were signing autographs. At the front of the line, were the stars of the show: Hope and Winnie – two miniature therapy horses looking to be hugged so they could help the students de-stress from exams... This is the fourth year miniature therapy horses have made their way to the Northwestern campus during exams thanks to Mane in Heaven, a non-profit organization that provides therapy horses to people in need. Founded in 2012 and based in Barrington, President Dina Ewing Morgan said the organization has seven therapy horses that travel to area hospitals, social service agencies and even universities. “When we first started doing this for college kids, we wondered ‘Will it even have an effect?'” said Ewing Morgan, who is also a nurse. “We do this with special needs kids and hospital kids, and seniors, but we didn’t know if it would actually work on college kids and they love it.”

I watched Jeopardy last week and some 20 something female Snowflake was on saying her big achievement was graduating Bicycling Class. She even bragged about her little certificate. She actually said it helped her overcome her fear.

She got her dumb ass handed to her. Probably too much pressure.

While waiting for a home purchase to go through, my family and I lived with my MIL, who had several cats. She kept the litter boxes in, of all place, the kitchen. I have to say, though, the stink of eating there was offset by the humor of watching to big tom cats fighting over a bowl of mashed potatoes.

A person tried to bring in a “comfort chicken” to the classroom of our local college. It was clucking during class. Prof was not amused.

Let them pet the Horse, feed it some Carrots and groom it.

Then tell them the Horse’s name is Donald Trump.

Who studied for finals? I was of the opinion if you didn’t know the material by then, you were out of luck. We played cards 24/7 during finals week.

If they want to de-stress I got several manure rakes. An hour of scooping horse shit will clear your mind. I do some of my thinking on from the end of my rake.

My neighbors horse pasture is right next to my house. Their 4 horses are down here at the fence line nightly looking for their apple or treat.
My two dogs love them and the horses enjoy the pups company.

The horses get their ears scratched and return to the barn.

It’s a nightly thing that Fay, Dixie, Skeeter, and Dancer love!

We do too!

At least on Christmas, it will be at a relative’s place.

Two very friendly horses reside there.

I agree horse s* is closer to dafadils.. I had a cat that could wake coma patients with one dump. we did not need an alarm clock. if you didn’t get up at 5 15 , you were “woke”. Had to clean the cat box before work every day!! and if you did get up it didnt happen. I don’t know how she did it because she could dump all day and it not be that bad.

My G-d, these are the grand and great grand children of the men who fought WW2 and the Korean War. I shudder for my country.
