My grandmother was in that war, as near to the front lines as an Army field hospital could get in the days before M.A.S.H. Units.

For 100 year old primitive film, it looks like they did a great job.

I guess most folks don’t understand that there are still connections to the “War to End All Wars”.

My late Maternal Grandfather had a hard time attending the high school basketball games my Uncle played in, because the screaming of the cheerleaders gave him flashbacks to the hand-to-hand and bayonet combat he was in in France.

They did the artillery sound effects by miking the NZ Army’s artillery practice ... both at the guns and at the point of impact.

Saw it last night. Very impressive. Be sure to stay for Peter Jackson’s description afterwards of how they fixed the lighting and the speed, colorized it, and put audio to the action. Truly a labor of love for him and his team.

Why is it only showing for two days? Will there be a general release later, or does it go to museums or the BBC? If it’s a limited release and then restricted distribution, I’ll have to hustle to get tickets. But if it will be generally available, timing is not urgent.

Because the Brits had a naval blockade of Germany, so our goods couldn’t get through to Germany.
