This is the thread for reaction to results of Flynn ruling - from 9:30 EST.
Is this the way of the judge to really making it clear to Flynn that he wants the general to withdraw his plea?
Isnt Turke a NATO member and considered an Allie
Interesting. Best and most positive scenario I can imagine.
A suggestion on FOX -the judge is trying to find what out exactly Flynn gave to the JD to get such a light sentence.
Yes, and don’t forget how feted the Turkish intelligence operators were last month by all the high and mighty swamp denizens.
His Turkey connections had nothing to do with the Logan act. He wasn’t interfering in US foreign policy. His firm was hired to do a puff documentary on Turkey and to do research on an opposition candidate in Turkey. If that is treason, then half of DC should be hung - starting with the Podesta’s
Yeah, Flynn’s trying to figure out how to swing this.
Mueller already said he doesn’t want any real sentence, so there’s no real danger. He doesn’t want dismissal and to then be tried for Turkey.
Because, it seems to me that Flynn has made the decision to choose Mueller's side over Trump's.
Good riddance, Flynn, and enjoy prison.
The judge seems to be trying to bump Flynn to do something in his defense.
There are too many lobbyists that don't register....and conviction of the same is extremely rare.
if what Flynn did was so bad, it wasn't treated as treason; and now announces a recess after saying that the court had never taken a guilty plea from an innocent person.
In short, sounds like Sullivan is trying his damndest to let Flynn walk and trying to expose the gubment.
>The judge seems to be trying to bump Flynn to do something in his defense.
Yeah, I think the judge has been told to try to get Flynn to dump the plea so they can kill him on Turkey.
Larry Schweikart @LarrySchweikart
I think Sullivan was warning Flynn one last time that what he has done was extremely severe (in Sullivan's eyes) & could warrant big prison.
IOW, poor Flynn is being squeezed between prosecutors who have him on something else (Turkey) & who can further bankrupt him . . .
...and a judge trying to do the right thing but who, if no one will play ball, is gonna kick Flynn's butt.
That's sort of how I read it. But Flynn doesn't want to be the one to stand up and fight Mueller.
What the judge is doing is a mystery to me. It’s clear from the 302 that Flynn was doing regular outreach.
No....It’s not about Flynn....It’s about Mueller....and making Mueller into a good guy. Mueller doesn’t give a damn about Flynn.
I am ignorant of all of this
But if Flynn was acting NSA while representing foreign nations like I think Turkey
Im pretty sure that wrong
Anyone feel free to edumacate me
FOX is out to lunch obviously. But what else is new?
I think the reason is that Flynn need a guilty plea to get an overreaching pardon that protects him from Mueller.
I suspect the declass comes with the pardon.
My totally amateur interpretation. The judge thinks he has a lot to say and do re the prosecution, but unless Flynn withdraws his plea he is forced to follow through with the sentencing. It is a very public trial. Quite a few people are aware that Flynn is pleading guilty to something that was not a crime. The judge does not like to be put in the role of the bad judge.
(I was about to write a “latter day Pontius Pilate” but that would have put Gen Flynn in a much better light than I think he deserves. )
First off, he was not Acting NSA, he was NSA designate-big difference. Obama expelled Russian personnel, the Russian NSA had to call the incoming administration to prevent it from becoming a major international incident, then the DoJ set out to criminalize the contacts. Likely Flynn didn’t talk about it because it was above the FBI’s pay grade.
