What possible business is it of theirs to suggest which football players belong on a team? This is obviously an attempt at racial politics, pushing a person for a position because of their race. The guy was a mediocre QB at the peak of his career. Then he got mixed up with a radical muslim GF and became a politician because the money and certain fringe benefits, in his case, come with a perceived qualitative difference.

Dude hasn't played in what, three years(?), is out of shape and probably in all honesty hasn't practiced a lick, knowing that he's made a career decision.

He would be a wasted spot on the roster but not a benign one; to the contrary he would be a "cancer in the locker room".
