Metal shavings found in toddler’s intestines after eating Zarbee’s multivitamins, mother says

The child’s pediatrician recommended the family go to the emergency room to get an X-ray, and though the report says they didn't find large amounts of metal in her body the family said it did show metal in her intestines.

Andersen said she’s since researched how metal could end up in food products, but isn’t satisfied as to why.

"Food is mass produced these days and metal machines will break apart and I guess pieces will fall into the production line, but there's supposed to be people or tools to catch those things," she said.

"The FDA is aware and currently investigating the complaint," said a spokesperson.

Johnson and Johnson announced it was acquiring Zarbee's this summer.

Zarbee’s didn’t immediately respond to calls for comment. Andersen said when she reached the company, they offered her coupons.

I have a close relative who works in the meat processing/production business.

I was surprised when he told me everything they make goes through no fewer than six huge magnets between intake and final packaging.

As he told me, “anyone saying that they found metal in our jerky is lying.”

I tend to believe enough people have tried to sue these companies that all a jury would need to see is the steps they go through to PREVENT this stuff and they would realize that the “claimant” is full of crap.

Admit to not reading this article, but I know they do put iron shavings into American flour and cereals and other “enriched” products, and they need to knock it off. It’s terrible for digestion. “Enriched” is always bad. Organic flour can be found without “enrichment” and it digests much better.

Figures!

J&J is a deeply socialist company that would stoop to whatever level newcessary to break a company they wish to acquire!

Don’t by “American” flour; it is not healthy.

Buy only whole wheat grown and packaged in India.

From the video and from some experience—the nature of that size metal fragment may not cling to magnets very well.
Small amounts of metal could fall into the bottom of a magnet housing without notice with/without periodic inspections. I’ve seen blenders destroyed mixing vitamins.
What she describes as shavings looks from the video to be way above grit level—no silver paint smear.
Whenever you find glass and metal in the bottom of a magnet housing—jewelry—the lot is destroyed. I hope that plant uses metal detectable pens.

Italian flour is good. Sometimes you can find bags of Italian 00 flour here.

If you can find a fresh mill, even American or Canadian flour is great! Here is a SoCal mill with killer good flours. https://www.gristandtoll.com

Some people who est gluten free because they can’t digest crap flour, can digest healthy flour.

Try Ferrous sulfate and fumarate rather than elemental iron in the form of flakes or shavings.

Problem is that most flour labeled “whole wheat” in the US simply isn’t.

We have the craziest food laws in the world.
