PARADISE (CBS SF) Three employees of a San Leandro construction company were fired Saturday for posting insensitive photos on social media from the wreckage left behind in Paradise by the deadly Camp Fire...Paradise officials posted on Facebook that police were looking into charges against the three workers...Several images were posted including a photo of someones beloved burned deceased cat with a beer bottle placed up to its mouth with this caption: Dude
I was just chilling with my homies, having a couple of cold ones, and BAM
damn fire breaks out.
That is an excerpt. ...thought the interface would catch it. Here’s the link again.
“police were looking into charges against the three workers.”
They’ll be looking for a long time unless the state of Cali has statues against poor taste.
I’ll put it this way. Moving to any place west of Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma or Texas to start any kind of agricultural operation is a very bad idea.
Many times dark humor comes from a stress reaction. I had a suicide plunge right outside our office window 30 years ago. The whole office had “poor taste” humor for the next 3 months. Get the same in combat areas.
Can’t be any worse than Jerry Brown blaming it on climate change.
And the 1st6 amendment is where?
The thought police are just getting started as liberal fascism is on the rise.
Flood the place with charred cat photos.
Cat Char, cat char, cat char, cat Char, cat char, cat char, cat char, cat char, cat char, cat char, cat char !
bad taste and I understand the firing but criminal charges very Orwellian and scary to think that the state of California believe it has the authority to do this...
All I can say is that Paradise is the next town over. Jail? No. Poor taste. Yes. Was talking tonight with an excavator that came all the way out from CT to dig up gas lines. Every spare space in the county has a mini city of trucks and equipment. Debris removal going on now.
There’s a few youtube posters I’ve run across by accident that I would like possible charges against as well.
This is the era of cell phones, spontaneous photo sharing etc. Some people have to handle the demonstrable suffering of this tragedy with morbid humor? So be it. At least they are still laughing at a tragedy while working on the clean up, they have a positive attitude.
That’s resilience, not a sin against peckish political correctness.Poor taste is the basic right of every American who rebuilds from the ashes of fire or even 9/11 .
This is what karma is for.
Abhorrent thought is a yuge and serius crime!
The state of California was considering retroactively taxing every text message made within the state over the last 5 years......Of course they have the authority to do anything they wish as long as the unarmed populace doesn’t start shooting back at a slow rate of fire with very low capacity ammo reserves.
1908 -> 1980
Poor taste is now a crime. Interestingly, it appears to have been criminalized without the trouble of actually passing a law. The police are able to initiate criminal prosecutions based on public sentiment. Its a brave new world. ( Not really but we are leaning in that direction.)
Didn’t know bad taste is a cause of getting fired...only in California...
Tasteless. But funny. And certainly not criminal.
“Paradise is the next town over.”
That is a profound truth ... that goes beyond mere geographical accuracy.
