Buffalo is cheaper and lovely this time of year. Then take a cab.

Yup,I entered Trump Tower for the first time last spring.A great experience. It was pretty cool...and intimidating...to see the areas that the Secret Service had declared off limits.I live close enough to NYC that driving is the best way to get there...particularly if you have no pressing business there (IOW,if you're going for fun).

I've never been to LaGuardia...only Newark and JFK.It's my understanding that transit from Newark to Manhattan is pretty easy...although LaGuardia is *much* closer.

They don’t call LaGuardia LaGarbage for nothing; Newark is a bit better what with the train taking you right downtown NYC. Service from LGA to NYC is awful.

It’s easier to get in and out of Newark... cheaper and far less crowded too.

There is a Sky-Train that you get on right at the airport and you can then catch a train right to Penn Station New York.

Penn Station is right under Madison Square Garden basically at 33rd Street and 7th Avenue.

La Guardia is kind of out of the way and I never fly via LaGuardia... JFK is on Long Island (Brooklyn) and you can take the subway from either of two SkyTrains to anywhere in New York, or the LIRR (Long Island RailRoad)

Years ago (in the 1970s) I was driving through Buffalo in September.I tuned in to a local radio station that was promoting a contest in which you'd win a prize if you guessed the date when the first 1" snowfall occurred in the city.

September!

Newark was recommended to me by several friends and acquaintances. I flew in and found the train commute to NYC convenient enough(Penn station).

Be sure to visit the 9/11 Museum and memorial, they are fantastic. Bring your handkerchief...

Not a NYer, never been. Flown into NewRk though.

Gotta visit Trump tower. I would. Stop in for a bite, or a coffe, or just see the place. And Thank God the man that built it, is in the White House.

If you do fly via Newark, get the New Jersey Transit app for your smartphone and you can buy your tickets over the web. You can also check the schedule, etc.

Which area will you be visiting?

There are some beautiful places outside of NYC, mostly north and west.

You won’t believe you’re 60-100 miles from midtown Manhattan.

NYC was a lot cleaner during the Guliani administration. Now that there’s a communist at the helm, things have really gone to hell.

FreepMail me if you’re going to be in northwest New Jersey!

“You don’t want to fly southwest. You’ll never get there. You want to fly northeast or at least north or east depending on your starting point.”

And don’t fly Virgin, cause they don’t go all the way.

Technically, not true! While you can fly east or west forever, if you fly south (or north), you’ll eventually wind up flying towards the opposite compass point, or making a stop at one of the poles! ;^)

For any GA folks out there:

There is Linden NJ. Only 5 miles separate the Newark Intl runway from the Linden runway. I picked up some NYC folks there, and it couldn’t have been easier. Just be aware the only direction to fly out of Linden is to the southwest (Unless you plan to land at Newark). Linden beats out Caldwell and Teterboro for ease of access.
