And her interactions with the students is a huge plus.
The Chicago Musem of Science and Industry, Has sections of a former employee on display, but they are about one inch thick.
They did that to a guy from my hometown. He murdered a man during a robbery of the man’s home and was sentenced to get the needle in Huntsville.
They cut him in three pieces and froze them. Then they thin sliced, or maybe planed him, taking a photo on each pass.
He is on the Internet.
Oh wait, that was just olive loaf.
It’s in the fridge around here someplace. Maybe behind the leftover bowl of stuffing...
Sicko. That’s just morbid. Why do people wallow in this kinda crap?
I feel almost the same way. Except the teaching part. I just want the embalming and slicing thing.
It’s a good thing there weren’t any hungry dogs in there when she was being deli sliced...
I wanna have my brain plasticized, then placed in a giant clear acrylic block after I kick the bucket. That way it can preserve all of my neural connections for a time it can be scanned and a digital copy of myself can be instanced.
While I know my soul will be gone to heaven, there should be enough data there to be scanned into a computer so I can sort of “live on” as a hologram that can warn future generations away from the many the dumb ass mistakes humanity tends to constantly repeat like socialism and pathological multiculturalism.
Ah, who am I kidding, my hologram would probably be turned off by some hologram haired future SJW goofball when I told them them up is up and down is down...
What a fascinating, though strange story.
My first thought is that once this lady was accepted for research, that one act gave her a grand sense of purpose.
This is why she lasted for so much longer than expected.
These students became the family she didn’t have.
I am reminded that when I meet a very cranky, snippy type of person, they may act that way because no one gave them enough love while growing up. Or they may not have been able to accept someone’s sincere caring.
Difference is the chicago employee was an unwilling participant, forced retirement. /jk
That was a brutal severence package.
circa 1960. I had a Visible Man back in the day.
Any way your slice it, this is strange.
I bet she didn’t count on getting a new body - to live eternally in one of two states.
A microtome (from the Greek mikros, meaning "small", and temnein, meaning "to cut") is a tool used to cut extremely thin slices of material, known as sections. Important in science, microtomes are used in microscopy, allowing for
In college, I took a physiological psychology class. The lab was the dissection of human brains. The lab assistant brought in a large plastic bag of brains. Each table of 2 or 3 students got one. As some of you know, the brain consists of ‘grey matter’ and ‘white matter’ which look remarkably like light and dark meat turkey.
At another table one student put a couple of slices of brain between two pieces of white bread to make what looked like a turkey sandwich to gross out her roommates. Although we laughed at the time, I remember thinking that someone willed his or her body to science only to have their brain, where they were on this earth made into a mock turkey sandwich.
Hannibal Lecter would have done it for her, and served her up with a fine Chianti.
