John Goodman may love Roseanne Barr, but he doesn't deem her a necessary part of "The Conners."
TMZ cameras caught up with the actor, who played Barr's husband on "Roseanne" and now her widower on "The Conners," and he was in great spirits about the Barr-free spinoff.
"It's so much fun, man. It's great," he said. "I hope we get a deal for next year. It's wonderful."
Goodman, 66, also admitted he hasn't kept in touch with Barr since "Roseanne" was canceled.

John is just trying to keep his job. Probably will be cancelled.
There are four seasons per year. 13 x 4 = 52
A full season is at least 22 episodes. Conners have 11
A season is that long for people who say “reboot.”

That's what I suspect, too. TMZ should never be considered a reliable source. The "reporter" wanted Goodman to say something negative about Roseanne and, after he didn't do so, simply made it appear he did.

Its one thing to not say antyhing if asked about it.
Its another o say its great without someone being there.
I think it speaks volumes about him as a person. Not great.
If you like trashing America this is the show for you.
He could deflect it wth a funny non answer or say nothing.
Or better yet shame the reporter, is that the best question you could come up with for me?
Nowadays it is.
Many shows now have a ten, eight or six episode season. Depending on many factors.
Someone the other day suggested a 2nd ‘reboot’....killing off one of the kids, and moving the family to Malibu...then do another 13 episodes for next season.
What do they expect him to say? “My show sucks now without Roseanne”? He wants to keep getting those paychecks.
john, if you do not say a word there may be a bit of wonderment as to if you are stoopid?
The Conners is unwatchable and it seems you are only looking after that paycheck

I don’t blame him. That’s what he has to say.
But I think he’s done with TV work — he looks too worn out for the grind. He needs to go back to movie work to pay the bills.

In fairness to Goodman, what is he supposed to say?
Is he to tell TMZ that “this show sucks without Roseanne” and get canned himself?

Odd how writers see themselves as lovers so often in movies, Tv, and books... it’s almost like they write the scripts or something.
That said, so far it’s better than most liberal shows... entertaining and liberal...
