One of my very favorite Holmes actors. Nuttin' for Christmas - Hippos for Christmas. A funny Christmas piece for Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes.
And if you'd like to think of it as a Wassail song, Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock Holmes in All About Berries by Julia Ecklar. Boys Night Out!
PING
THANKS AGAIN FOR THE CLEVER CLIP!!!!!
You are most welcome, with a low, holiday bow. Pants just don’t make it in a curtsey.
Best. Holmes. Ever.
I second that.
I was devoted to that series when it ran on PBS although, honestly, I was never a Sherlock Holmes fan at all.
I did enjoy Robert Downey Jr’s wild eyed Holmes, though.
[and Nicol Williamson is still the best Hamlet, ever]
It’s hard to choose which Holmes is better. I like them all, with the exception of the low budget, cheesy versions made in the 60’s and 70’s.
I read that Jeremy Brett so immersed himself in his character, that it sent him right off his rocker.
I read that, too. Also read that it wasn’t helped by the death of the wife that he loved.
The only Holmes I still can’t handle is the one with the female Watson. And I went from total absorption to pulling far back in the last Cumberbatch season.
Started on Holmes at an early age, and can still flash back to holding the immense volume of all the stories. LOVE Downey’s Holmes!
I was very unhappy when Watson’s wife was killed off. But, then, she was Martin Freeman’s live-in, and they split up in real life.
I was ecstatic. It’s not canon to keep Mary alive, and I much prefer the two of them to the three of them.

LOL!
So very graciously said.
I think I have some pix to prove what you say about dresses being necessary for a curtsey........Uh......
Oh wait....Ooops....
?
OK.....*texokie flips through picture files*
THIS one proves what you say is true! Gotta have the DRESS!
You are nothing short of wonderful!

No..... YOU!!!!
;-)
Brett did a good job. He was a little too frenetic for me overall, but it was a well-done series.
Nothing like reading the Sherlock Holmes saga by Doyle. It was my favorite childhood fare....read every single story.
If it isn’t Rathbone, it isn’t Holmes!
>>read every single story
Over and over and over and over and over
Do you have a favorite? Mine is The Three Garridebs.
“You’re not hurt, Watson? For God’s sake, say that you are not hurt!”
It was worth a wound — it was worth many wounds — to know the depth of loyalty and love which lay behind that cold mask. The clear, hard eyes were dimmed for a moment, and the firm lips were shaking. For the one and only time I caught a glimpse of a great heart as well as of a great brain. All my years of humble but single-minded service culminated in that moment of revelation.
“It’s nothing, Holmes. It’s a mere scratch.”
He had ripped up my trousers with his pocket-knife.
“You are right,” he cried with an immense sigh of relief. “It is quite superficial.” His face set like flint as he glared at our prisoner, who was sitting up with a dazed face. “By the Lord, it is as well for you. If you had killed Watson, you would not have got out of this room alive.”
