Last earthquake we felt around here was in NW Alabama, just over the state line. And it was reported first on Free Republic as well.

The Watts Bar nuclear power plants are about 1 mile from the epicenter. (Right on the TVA lake up there near Decatur TN.)

The last one of any substance I recall feeling was around 2003, when it shook the house and the light fixtures were moving on the ceiling, and that also was an overnight one (somewhere between 3-5am). That one, I believe, was centered in NE Alabama.

We’re about 20 miles from there and felt nothing. Or maybe we did feel it and didn’t know it, and that’s what woke us up early.
My sister is closer; haven’t heard from her yet.
