I have been using Brave with no issues but the scrolling problem.

Yesterday Brave updated.

Now I cannot change the homepage, it is one of theirs, I was able to change goog to duck duck go, but it now lists and autofills when I search and I cannot turn that off

There doesn't seem to be a place to do these simple things anymore.

Although the scrolling problem went away.

I normally do not save browsing hisroty and cannot turn that off. I can empty it, but cannot stop it.

Same for search.

I could do all of these things on the pre update brave.

Open your task manager. Look for odd names not specific to anything. Many containing numbers are Malware.

Ahhh... the joys of autoupdating. Just ask any Win 10 user :)

I don’t use Brave, prefering Slimjet. But does Brave have a rollback option? If not I suspect Brave will issue another autoupdate for fix this one. Kinda like Win 10 :)

Can you get to that browser’s settings? Sound like the update may have changed some.

Yeah, I’m not super enthused with this update either. Didn’t realize a major revamp was coming. Feels strangely familiar, like when Firefox did the same thing (flipping the tabs inside out) and their entire user base revolted.

So corporate governance for Brave has decided what you may or may not do with your browser. I don’t see a problem; after all it is a “Brave New World”. /s

WOW I thought it was some freaky thing that happened yesterday.

I was screaming at my husband how much I hate this new system my son put on my computer.

I hate updates

If you haven’t yet rebooted, try that. I have noticed that sometimes updates of anything act flaky until you reboot. The problem may just go away.

I am using a pi-hole DNS server on my network to block all ads and it works pretty well. I just installed Brave and it doesn’t block ads on Brave. There are really annoying ads showing up on http://whatfinger.com. They must have their own adservers that they sell ads to. I am going to have to figure out how to blacklist them.

Had the same happen, but if you dig down you will see that it did not delete the old version.

So I fiddled a bit and got back the old version.

Not really satisfied with this situation, but I will go with it for now.

FWIW, I've got Firefox as a backup.

People need to specific what platform they’re using. I’m using Brave on iOS at the moment. Most all apps have variations depending on platform.

I thought I was the only one having issues with the update. Of course it happens during my work week, and I have no time to look into it.

Bookmarking.

The Brave Menu (3 horizontal bar icon) has a “Settings” selection. The home button must be enabled to change the home web page. At the bottom of the settings page is an “Advanced” button for more things like setting the download directory.
