SEVERANCE, Colo. A 9-year-old boy has convinced the leaders of a small northern Colorado town to overturn a nearly century-old ban on snowball fights, and he already knows who his first target will be his little brother.
Dane Best, who lives in the often snow-swept town of Severance, presented his arguments at a town board meeting Monday night, and members voted unanimously to lift the ban.
"The children of Severance want the opportunity to have a snowball fight like the rest of the world," Best said during his presentation, according to local newspaper The Greeley Tribune. "The law was created many years ago. Today's kids need a reason to play outsid

But you're going to hit someone in the eye and blind them!
How many pot shops in Severance?
That must of been one heII of a snowball fight...
Some kid was probably badly injured. A tightly packed snowball becomes an iceball which has an effect not unlike that of a thrown rock.
Yet ANOTHER reason, IMO, all ‘laws’ should have a finite life. S*, like this, S-O *STUPID*, on the books FOREVER until (like “No tying your elephant to the horse-rail”)
Sometimes kids pack rocks inside the snowball.
Meanwhile, the genocide against vegetables continues unabated. I’ve witnessed bean sprouts being eaten while they were still alive by these PETA types! Monstrous.
Don’t get me started about innocent bacteria.
Yep. I got hit right in the eye by a snowball with a stone inside in a snowball fight when I was in Infants School. I was 6. I still remember the pain 50 years later and I couldn't use the eye for quite a while. Fortunately I didn't lose it.
and people laugh abut a snowball ban.
“...a nearly century-old ban on snowball fights...”
WUT? Did I re-read that 4x right? I need a coffee refill, quickly.
And then we settled down, drank our hot chocolate and slept like a baby.
Snowball fights were "Mother Approved".
Nothing good is going to come of this.......There was a reason that law was in place.
I was in Severance with great friends on December 29th 1079 and went to Bruces Musical Bar, great fun and yes, we ate some. Years later I saw Bruces Obit in the NYT (has to read it for work) and E-mauled my friend the clip. (He was a couple of years older than me) He was former Army (Retired at Captain) I was amazed when I got an e-mail back, he was in Kuwait doing intelligence for Gulf War II!
1979, sorry!
Nobody today knows what that reason was.
Don’t forget those delicious mud pies from our childhood.
That’s barbaric. A frozen dog turd inside a snaowball was ok.
E-mauled - I love it!
Blood will be flowing in the streets!
