Do conservatives have more fun? Should liberals start describing themselves as humor-challenged?..
why didn’t the liberals in the Boston experiment like the nonsense humor of “Deep Thoughts” as much as the conservatives did? ... “Conservatives tend to be happier than liberals in general,” said Dr. Martin, a psychologist at the University of Western Ontario. “A conservative outlook rationalizes social inequality, accepting the world as it is, and making it less of a threat to one’s well-being, whereas a liberal outlook leads to dissatisfaction with the world as it is, and a sense that things need to change before one can be really happy.”
Another possible explanation is that conservatives, or at least the ones in Boston, really aren’t the stiffs they’re made out to be by social scientists. When these scientists analyze conservatives, they can sound like Victorians describing headhunters in Borneo. They try to be objective, but it’s an alien culture...

Could it be that the image of conservatives as humorless, dogmatic neurotics is based more on political bias than sound social science?

If you’re under 60 you’ve been forced to laugh at yourself all these years, as SNL and comedians force you to, and lefties can’t do that. If you can’t laugh at yourself you really can’t find anything else funny either.

I don't like off color either but like you I an a follower of The Way. Some i deal with but a person can make a clean joke sans the nasty words. Do love the wit, and everything I posted. I just love to laugh. Used to do a humor group in state hospitals, acute and prisons.

Maybe the NYT thinks it was not funny, or PC, as it does not tell us.

Liberals are too busy hating
This is a perfect example of the difference between liberals and conservatives. The writer of this article wants to make some profound statement about liberals and conservatives. We all know he’s a lefty, hey he works for the NYSlimes. Read the comments in this thread. We conservatives care more about the punchline of the joke than any ‘profound’ insight the writer of this article has. I mean, he has the start of a great joke and he blew it by getting all serious on us!!!
Its hard core operatives are driven by lust for power as the enlightened elite who are angry at authority and benefits that was obtained by lawful merit, and neither the jealous or rapists are likely laugh at humorous roasting about themselves. I
Consider how fearful, threatened, touchy, angry, and reactionary the liberal college climate example itself to be.
