oth being skimmed into the commie ruler’s account. Those cuban commies are better capitalists than our own

We call our government capitalists the IRS. Not much difference.

"In the last few years, there have been many developments which in retrospect look like small blocks being pulled from the base of our economy, and placed on top to “help it grow.” Some of them are now infamous: the growth of the housing bubble, the deregulation of the financial sector in the 1990s, and predatory lending by banks. The last block, which left the tower in pieces, was likely the subprime mortgage crisis. There is also one largely unknown factor: the system of international banking secrecy, which was yet another block pulled from the bottom of our world’s economic foundation."

Seems like I'm already playing,,,,

The 90's was all about branding, marketing, and IP (Intellectual Property).

The "smart" people didn't want to deal with actual products which had to be manufactured, stored, shipped, etc.

They just wanted to "add value" via branding, or make money by selling the rights to other people who were "dumb" enough to dirty their hands dealing with real stuff.

Many companies went belly up by exchanging real stuff for stock options that ended up being worthless. Cisco was extremely close to selling off that part of their business that actually made stuff in exchange for being an IP only company, but was saved by the dot.com collapse beginning before they concluded the deal.

In 1960, Cuba had a higher standard of living than Mississippi. More Cubans vacationed in the U.S. than the other way around.

From island paradise to hellhole in a lifetime. Next stop: California.

The actual cause was the destruction of the free market by communism.

Cuba has two currencies, one for the tourists

A friend was on a cruise last winter and they had a single day stop over in Cuba.

I think he said that when you convert your U.S. currency to Cuban, they skim 13% and when you convert it back when leaving, they skim another 13%.......

CUCs, their dollar is called. We were there in August, on a cruise. We converted less than we thought we’d need, just in case we had leftover. The Cuban people are happy to take American $$, regardless of what they tell you on the ship. Another ripoff is the special visa every visitor requires, $75 pp if purchased on the ship. Without it you cannot get off. Visiting the ruins of Cuba should be required for every voter in the US. It is an eye-opener, mainly to commie-type American liberals.

Can’t say much other than they aren’t as good as Honduran ones.

Both Cuban and Virginia tobacco are of a variety that was originally discovered in Honduras in the early 1600's and brought to Virginia. The native Virginia tobacco was harsh and unsmokable. There was no native Cuban tobacco. What is called Cuban tobacco is Honduran tobacco grown in Cuba.
