NORTH WALES, Pa. (WPVI) -- The United States Postal Service is conducting an investigation into a mail carrier caught delivering a Montgomery County family's package with an underhand toss.
The North Wales family isn't just upset about the way their box was handled, they say the driver tried to place the blame on them.
Brian Simon showed Action News surveillance video from Tuesday afternoon where a postal vehicle pulls in his driveway and the driver throws a package out of the truck window onto his lawn.
Seconds later, the driver can be seen retrieving it and returning to the truck, only to re-emerge seconds later and throw the package toward the front door of the house.
The video shows it is a two-handed heave. Simon said his wife Lisa was watching in bewilderment from inside of the house.

I watched the video. The driver flat out lied. Post Office apologizes and I’ll bet the postal worker [female?] gets canned.
Last year, I found a ginormous brown cardboard box with a mailing label right in the middle of my lawn. It had an address of recipient several doors down. It took me AND my neighbor to shlep this box to its rightful recipient. We both wondered how a box to be delivered wound up right in the middle of my lawn. Maybe something like this happened.
“Ill bet the postal worker [female?] gets canned.”
You ARE joking right?
Of course the driver should not be tossing packages over the lawn then lying about it. Still, I think too much was made of this incident. A news crew and on site reporter? Really?
Maybe since we’re heading into the Christmas season with heaving package mailing expected, maybe that’s why it became such a big deal. Unless it’s marked Fragile, one can assume that at some point, the package was tossed.
When I order stuff on line I always cringe when i see it’s gonna be shipped USPS. A couple of years ago my license plates ended up being delivered to the other side of my neighborhood. It was only out of the kindness of their hearts that the homeowners that recieved them brought them over.
Action will be taken if neccessary. If? She flat out lied, plus shes lazy. I would fire her.
Welcome to the era of the 24 hour news cycle + smartphone delivered social media. I keep asking myself when I see stories like this, ‘how the heck did the news find out, and why would they care?!’ Then I remember what era this is.
On to the next national story about some dude yelling at a kid!
Freegards
Reports like this are aggravating. The Postal service is staffed by diverse people across this country and the vast majority are dedicated folk doing an unthankful job. The people at our local PO and virtually every carrier have always been cheerful and professional. My wife has run across a few that taint that, but then she can rub people the wrong way. There are a couple of retired Marines and one Army Master Sergeant that work at our PO and they are efficient and pleasant, even when their customers are not.
This carrier appears to need an attitude adjustment or she may have just have had a bad day. But it is folk like her that give the Postal Service a bad name.
I’ve had 2 issues with the postal system in my life.
First was when someone tried to steal my identity and applied for a change of address then applied for a number of credit cards. Had they processed the change a day or two faster I wouldn’t have found out until it was too late. Because they were slow I received on of the requested credit cards. Postal inspector said nothing they could do - despite having the forwarding address - as it was likely just a drop and not the actual identity thief. I was flabbergasted they wouldn’t at least open an investigation.
2nd was when I used a UPS location for a mail drop while I was traveling. A couple of packages that were “delivered” were never received. Again no action on the part of the postal management.
I love the two ladies that do our route - they’re cheerful and polite and try to position packages out of the rain.
It only takes a few bad apples to make everyone look bad. Same with the cops and every other service oriented organization.
What do PayLess and the Post Office have in common?
If you complain about the driver, they will get revenge on you.
I regularly see packages on my tracking “out for delivery”. They don’t show up, and later that evening get marked as “delivery location inaccessible”, which is nonsense.
Fact is, postal workers are lazy and stupid, and they’ll circle the wagons to protect the worst of themselves. Typical Union. Typical government employees.
I have a trick though. If they mess up an Amazon delivery, even slightly, I report it. Amazon doesn’t mess. I get my revenge.
You’re not looking at this USPS employee’s actions in the right light.
This USPS employee is a UNION member. That automatically means she will be promoted and given a fat raise for her outrageous behavior.
Yep and not just a union gig, a federal government union gig. That’s a WHOLE ‘nother layer of obscene protection for bad behavior right there. I could tell ya some stories.
Back in the all snail mail days I lost a job because the letter was delivered to a mail box down the route some ways.
The person who received it held onto it for a couple of weeks before placing it back in the stream.
By then it was to late.
I was not a happy camper
Nope. You thought she was ok?
I’ve had a UPS Store box for years.
Well worth the money.
