Science frowned on any connection between Neanderthal and so called modern humans. When the DNA evidence came out they were gobsmacked especially since there was no Neanderthal DNA in sub Saharan Africa. This means Europeans, Asians and Pacific Islanders HAVE those genes. Africans do not. Not politically correct.

As far as the Bible? Couldn’t tell you. My church (Catholic) currently separates science from religion.
