I don't believe for a minute that she didn't know about the suit. It was in all the papers. I do, however, believe that she now realizes that this shyster used her and left her exposed to lots of risk (which in fact she now faces in the form of hundreds of $K in fees she has to pay Trump) for the sole purpose of promoting himself.

Bottom line: she doesn't want to pay that money. She wants Avenatti to be on the hook for it due to malpractice. And potentially to get some revenge by having him disbarred.
