Yeah, I have but one question, and I hope it’s legitimate, and I only ask it because it’s been weighing heavy on my heart and I need to know, actually it’s two questions, but here goes: Why do you Catholics worship saints and eat little cookies and think it’s Jesus?

:: Why do you Catholics worship saints ::

Tradition. A misplaced sense of mediation that has become part of the religious life of the Roman Catholic church.

:: eat little cookies and think it’s Jesus? ::

Because it IS Jesus. Jesus told us that Himself. (And, ‘cookies’ is incorrect and actually a mockery of Christ. Please, don’t.)

Cletus, catholic of the Lutheran variety.

That was a mean way to pretend to ask a, so called, “legitimate” question. Bait with attitude much? I like your writing. I will continue to like it. But you shock me. What if I asked you how is it possible that a protestant can toss out a over a half a dozen books of the Holy Bible (that the Catholic Church compiled, and they didn’t), and ignore the Fathers of the Church, (whom they can’t name) andcstay ignorant of both Tradition and “tradition”, and whine because they couldn’t also sack the Book of James, as well) and still think they’re the smartest people in the room, entitled to slander Holy Mother Church (whom they fantastically believe they replace) and then blaspheme Christ Jesus in the in Sacred Body and Precious Blood??? Love, 🤨 Rita

Let a Catholic answer your question (good effort, Cletus... 50%)

Catholics are supposed to HONOR the saints. We believe their lives of holiness allow them to intercede for us or join their prayers to ours. If a Catholic is WORSHIPPING a saint, they are ill-informed.

Cletus was correct on the second answer. Catholics take Christ at his word when he said many times “This is my body...”

If people knew what Catholics really believe, they would have far fewer objections. I suggest you ask your questions on one of the Catholic non-caucus threads. They won’t mind...

Now, back to our Q station...

This is just my opinion, and I could be wrong. I was raised in the Anglican Catholic Church, similar beliefs about the Eucharist.

When I read the text in Corinthians 11:24 and 25, using independent thinking, it seems to me that Jesus was telling his disciples that he was going to be broken and bloody very soon, and he was giving them a tradition to follow to keep him in their lives after he died on the cross.

He said to break bread and drink wine in REMEMBRANCE of HIM, when the disciples were gathered together. Organized religions then decided to make a ritual of this, and used it to control people and gain power.

I left the Anglican Church when they decided that homosexuality was ok, and gays could be priests, and all sorts of other apostasies. I follow Jesus, not the rules made up by one the the 40,000 different denominations. But, I respect those who prefer the structure of these denominations.

You should do likewise, in my humble opinion. Consider casting the beam out of your eye, before going after the splinters in the eyes of others.
