This is just my opinion, and I could be wrong. I was raised in the Anglican Catholic Church, similar beliefs about the Eucharist.
When I read the text in Corinthians 11:24 and 25, using independent thinking, it seems to me that Jesus was telling his disciples that he was going to be broken and bloody very soon, and he was giving them a tradition to follow to keep him in their lives after he died on the cross.
He said to break bread and drink wine in REMEMBRANCE of HIM, when the disciples were gathered together. Organized religions then decided to make a ritual of this, and used it to control people and gain power.
I left the Anglican Church when they decided that homosexuality was ok, and gays could be priests, and all sorts of other apostasies. I follow Jesus, not the rules made up by one the the 40,000 different denominations. But, I respect those who prefer the structure of these denominations.
You should do likewise, in my humble opinion. Consider casting the beam out of your eye, before going after the splinters in the eyes of others.
I’m a Catholic. I was speaking in the voice of those who go in and disrupt the Catholic Caucus threads. Forgot my sarc tag and I’m payin’ the price. Also a cradle Episcopalian so I hear where you’re coming from too, that’s why I went Catholic but they’re so gay now too I just don’t go to church. Hence I’m sittin’ here postin when I oughtta be kneelin’ and prayin’ on Sunday Morning.
Apologies to all I’ve offended. I forgot my sarc tag ok? Pray for me a sinner.
