A friend of mine has posted steampunk version of "All Along The Watchtower", written by Dylan and covered by Hendrix. I like the Transylvanian accent and the sub theme of the Dragon. What does the dragon mean? Actually, what does the song mean -- I don't think anyone has figured it out! He just started the Youtube website so feel to subscribe.
How weird is that! Seriously!
Yeah, you might be right. Mind you, I haven’t seen that episode.
Dylan has given Hendrix credit for creating the definitive version of the song. Dylan pretty much uses Hendrix’s arrangement in his live performances, although the vocals aren’t close to the quality of what Hendrix did.
You're welcome, but I'm just a messenger. I have no idea what Dylan's real meaning was.
The interpretations at that link do kinda make sense, though.
Yeah, I remember seeing a video of Dylan playing it with his back up band The Band. Robbie Robertson didn’t do anything Hendrix like and just more or less winged his way through the solos. I also saw Clapton and Lenny Kravitz do it and Clapton actually became excited and started reaching to pull something out of the air... great performance.
Some pretty harsh comments here, rude and unwarranted
The music and video were unique and fun to watch. I have a station with 300 subs. The effort in this video was a pretty time consuming endeavor no doubt.
Speaking as someone who bought Electric Ladyland when it first came out in 1968 there’s Jimi’s version and then there’s everybody else’s, much of which is excellent in it’s own right. I’ll give credit where credit is due - the guy who made the video plays a hell of a lot better than I can.
Actually, I always thought of the Bear McCreary / Galactica as a great example of how to do a re-imagination of a classic. The Galactica reboot was loaded with weirdness on many levels, but, IMHO it still worked quite well.
Forgot the link to the Bear McCreary / Galactica version..

Yeah, it caught my eye and ear — there is a lot going on. Glad you enjoyed it!
