I can't find a good publication to look forward to getting in the mail or internet. I used to get Forbes, WSJ, Barron's, IBD, but I don't want them anymore...
Anyone have any ideas? Most investment newsletters and mags ignore political angles when investing, too, which I see as a mistake.
I would love any recommendations to look up and do due diligence.
I can't afford Morningstar, btw.
Martin Armstrong?
not for everyone.

read the wall street journal from cover to cover for a minimum of two years and you’ll have a pretty good idea of what you want to do ...
if there was actually any magic advice in a newsletter, it wouldn’t BE in a newsletter because whomever discovered the magic advice would keep it to themselves ... that statement is actually true of EVERYONE who wants to sell you “investment advice” and/or actual investments ...
Gary North?
Morningstar is well worth it at $200 a year particularly if it avoids having to hire an investor advisor sucking 1-2% of your estate. They have good analyses on major funds and stocks.
Your situation doesn’t allow that and I fully understand.
Here are some free sites I’ve found helpful:
Coffee House investor
Bogleheads
Motley Fool
The Motley Fool might be good, although I would strongly advise against 99% of all “investment newsletters.” This is something you need to spend the time to learn yourself. Pick a company or industry that you like, and really do the research yourself. Or, just use good mutual funds or ETFs.

Get the free “Thoughts from the Frontline” if you’re interested in macroeconomics and big trends. Sorry, no stock recommendations in this one (sometimes industries).
I’ve been reading it for years, never signed up for any of the pay services.

ALL NO LOAD funds. Markets are RANDOM. So you will optimise you investments this way. Worry free. Buy and forget.
Have you looked at EfficientFrontier.com (William Bernstein)...or PaulMerriman.com
? Oh, and You can get Morningstar at the library.
Try Mark Hulbert.

DOW THEORY FORECASTS by Horizon Financial.
They don’t try to do too much, just recommend stocks that pass muster with their proprietary software, Quadrix. They are disciplined.
They have published weekly since 1946. I started our subscription when we were underwater on our net worth at age 40 in 1994. Today, we have a more than sufficient amount for retirement thanks to DTF. They also got me started on dividend reinvestment plans.
DTF not overtly political, since why alienate potential subscribers who might be liberal? I respect that. Hollywood could learn from them as they alienate conservatives and thereby leave conservative money on the table.
do the exact opposite of what he says ...
You will get wealthy quickly ...
Purchase their FOCUS LIST of stocks and you will beat most benchmarks.
