This is an extension of my thread: https://freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3699808/posts
Due to no availability of .38 ACP shotshell ammo, the discussion now moves to 9mm handguns. Please see that previous thread if you wish to see why 9mm is now the topic.
Mine works fine. Trigger pull is a killer though.
This.
The chief problem is that none of 'em is a Glock.
My Taurus PT-709 Slim is a superior firearm in every respect of most of the pistols I’ve ever owned. It is 1 inch thick, making it a very nice concealable sidearm. I purposefully didn’t clean it until after I ran over 500 rounds through it, and it never failed to feed or eject properly. I highly recommend it.
I like the way you think, I have an AR15 that jammed one day.
A fellow FReeper cleared it.
He says when was the lest time you cleaned this thing?
I said “about 1500 rounds ago, I am conducting an experiment”
What I learned is AKs and ARs are very dependable, but will jam eventually if you abuse them.
AR’s are more accurate and AK’s are easier to clear.
I checked the CCI website, no 380 shotshells but they do make 9mm and 38 special. The 38 carries twice the shot as the 9mm but there is a warning that the shells may cause lockup in a light revolver due to capsule movement from recoil.
9mm may be the way to go, a jam is easier to deal with than cylinder lockup.
I have read the action in something like the EC9s won't work if using shot shells, but, manual loading and shooting 1 at a time is fine, for that purpose. For larger threats (feral dog or human - we have no large predators around here) 2 magazines of 9mm hollow points should be quite sufficient.
The Ruger LCP .380 was a good fit in my smallish hand — it might be a mm or two small, so I’m guessing the Ruger EC9s is going to be just about right, for me. It also gets good reviews for it’s trigger pull. Really, the only reason I don’t jump for it immediately is that the comments in the reviews about corrosion are worrisome. (I have a lot of bad experience with dubious black oxide finishes on non-firearm items.)
Granted, the free 2nd magazine and greater magazine capacity of the SCCY CPX-1 are attractive, but, it may be a bit “big” in my hand (I obviously have not yet taken an in-my-hand look at any 9mm handguns). Also, your comments about the trigger likely apply to the SCCY CPX-1.
Hmmm...
I had a ruger LC9, the trigger pull was atrocious, It was a fine gun but did not suit me due to the long trigger pull
Rugers mags are very expensive.
S&W M&P made me happy.
Guns are like cars and gals, they all get you there.
I like redheads. ;)
With green eyes :)
I have the Taurus PT111 Millennium G2 and like it a lot.
It’s my everyday carry. (In the winter months I switch things up a bit because I can use a shoulder holster for my other handguns.)
Even if you have small hands you’ll be able to shoot the PT111 more accurately than the TCP.
I bought my wife an LC9 once.
We traded it in short order.
My 1st pistol was a little .25 ACP
it was so tiny I could not hit a coke can at 25ft.
it rolled around in my hand.
it was underpowered to boot.
30 years later I put a grip on it that filled my hand, and dang that thing will hit the target.
It’s still a useless underpowered POS
saved me a few times though.
Trigger pull sucks
Ruger lc9s here for a pocket pistol.
No complaints
Easily concealed. Reliable.
But i still like my Kimber .45
What is your opinion of the trigger pull on the EC9s?
Yes, you are right -- I noticed that & should add it to my pros & cons...
I believe the EC9s is a LC9s with a simpler sight, correct? Would the finish be the same & have you had any issues with corrosion on your LC9s?
Noted. CPX-1 / CPX-2 ok for smallish hands?
