This is an extension of my thread: https://freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3699808/posts
Due to no availability of .38 ACP shotshell ammo, the discussion now moves to 9mm handguns. Please see that previous thread if you wish to see why 9mm is now the topic.
Note however that it has been suggested to me that light revolvers firing powerful cartridges may cylinder-jam, so a light .357 revolver might not be such a great idea.
Of the 9mm compact handguns "on my list", my notes are:
Taurus Millennium G2 $200, but sold out locally as of 11/25/18
WEIGHT:20.8 oz. CALIBER/GAUGE:9mm CAPACITY:12+1 # OF MAGS:2 MAGAZINE DESC:12 rd. BARREL:3.2" OVERALL LENGTH:6.2" -- The Ruger LCP 38 fit my hand very well, so is this "a bit big"? Warranty and repair issues could be problematic. (See prev. thread.)
SCCY CPX-1. $210.00. Lifetime warranty. Made in USA!
WEIGHT:15 oz. CALIBER/GAUGE:9mm CAPACITY:10+1 # OF MAGS:2 MAGAZINE DESC:10 rd. BARREL:3.1" OVERALL LENGTH:5.7" -- The two 10 round magazines are a plus.
Ruger EC9s $210 - in stock locally 11/25/18
Caliber: 9MM Finish: Black Oxide, blued Action: Striker Fired, Short, Light, Crisp Trigger Barrel Length: 3.12 Overall Length: 6 Weight: 17.20 oz Capacity: 7+1 # of Mags: 1 -- This should be the most reliable, but, a few reviews suggest issues with corrosion even if regularly oiled / maintained.
Given the above parameters, what do FReepers think?
Well, that did not format quite as planned - hope it’s reasonably readable for all!

I have an EC9s. The trigger is very good. I’ve put over 1000 rounds through it with a variety of ammo and have not had even a single problem.
Bfl
I have shot a bunch of .357 magnum loads through my 13oz. S&W J frame. I haven’t experienced any issues except .357 cases are a little long for the short ejector.
I like my EC-9s, but most often carry my S&W Model 60 (J-frame).
Hi-Point C9 9mm. No, I’m not kidding.
It works every time, but its like having a brick on your belt.
Bricks work every time too :)
It sure as heck aint compact.
If you intend use “shot shell” or “snake shell” loads you want a revolver.
what is the aspect you like most about it..?
I'm currently struggling with my own debate with myself over a compact 45 or a compact 9mm. The CPX-1 does sound intriguing though.
I actually own both weapons.
The LC9 is my pocket carry, while I keep the Taurus in my work van as added backup.
The only issue I have with the LC9 is that the American made Mags tend to fall out of the weapon if you bump it. This is a pretty well known issue with the weapon. The solution was to buy Italian made mags. While easy to conceal, there is only a 7 round capacity to the mags.
The Taurus is a double stack mag with a 12 round capacity, but it is a more bulky weapon, but it is still fairly easy to conceal.
Either weapon is a good choice. Depends on what you intend/how to use it.

I have many pistols and compact is a challenge.
1st they don’t always fill your hand, so they tend to roll around, decreasing accuracy.
They tend to use long DA triggers over a good positive safety and a crisp light SA trigger.
The long trigger pull, makes me roll to the left..
I found a compact S&W M&P 9mm with 2 mags used for $225
I’m a believer! I carry in a Sticky holster $25
The mags are a bitch to load, but hey..
The EC-9 looks like a major improvement over the LC9.
I am glad you waved off on the .380 ACP, not that it is not effective.
It is a short 9mm x 17mm, but you can get 9mm x 19mm Nato cheaper and it is just as concealable
