FULL TITLE: REVEALED: Democrats won control of the House of Representatives by the largest margin since the Watergate scandal

Democrats won the popular vote in the House by the largest margins since the Watergate scandal and resignation of Republican President Richard Nixon.

An analysis by NBC News reveals that Democrats stormed to victory over the Republicans in House races, by a whopping 8.6 million votes in this year's midterms.

NBC reported that number is the largest margin that Democrats have defeated Republicans in a midterm House election since 1974.

That midterm race, shortly after Nixon resigned, allowed Democrats to win the popular vote by 8.7 million votes, NBC reported.

Some commentators have made comparisons between the administrations of Trump and Nixon as special counsel Robert Mueller examines the role of Russia in the 2016 election and whether the president attempted to obstruct justice and end the probe.

Nixon also resisted investigations after his administration attempted to distance itself with five men who broke into the Democratic National Committee's headquarters at the Watergate hotel.

There is some recognition among Republicans that they need a tune-up moving forward.

'I think everybody acknowledges we have a helluva problem,' Josh Holmes, a top political adviser to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told Politico.

invalid claim! Compare population of the US and number of registered voters in Nixon’s day to the population of the US today. Number of registered voters will certainly have increased enormously throwing comparison cited in article nul and void..

1970 Census 203,392,031
2010 Census 308,745,538
Today 325.71 Million

Only because about 40 Republicans retired at the same time.
................
Led by the likes of Paul Ryan, Jeff Flake and numerous RINO anti-Trump buffoons. Changes need to be made in state Republican parties that are far too complacent toward the Democrats.

This smoke and mirrors. Votes are not directly proportional to seats in congress. Voter dense democrap enclaves are still one seat just like Montana or North Dakota.

In 2010, Republicans flipped 63 seats.

Don’t give up.

And Hillary won the popular vote. That and a cab license and Hill would have a job.

We either have a lot of stupid people who want socialism or we have massive vote fraud. Silly me. It’s both. We’re screwed as a nation if we don’t fix the latter, but we need to change the former as well.

How much of this was caused by California's jungle primary system which resulted in both candidates in the general being Democrats?

There is something much worse that needs to be kept in mind.

Some of us (make that “most” on FR) were hoping for a Red Wave that would validate Donald Trump’s divine election win. We would add enough GOP muscle to shut down the endless Trump bashing from the left and the MAGA Train would pick up speed.

No so. In fact, the fuse was just lit on the powder keg we all fear.

Voter turnout was huge for the midterm election, but it wasn’t a Republican tsunami. In fact, the ginormous turnout of both parties means the 2020 election will be a free-for-all. I fear Trump’s election was a one-off and we’ll never see another Republican president in our lifetimes.

Think about it. The socialist smell emanating from the DNC lineup didn’t cause widespread nausea among the voters. That means they either support or don’t dislike a communist (or commie-lite) government. That is very bad.

The Dems will go hammer-and-tongs against the Second Amendment. I’m terrified over what would happen if a “Repeal the Second” drive ever got started, and I get cold chills over how such an amendment would fare in the land of snowflakes.

Immigration, “free” stuff, government health care, you name the nightmare and the Dems want to ram it down your throat. We sat on our hands while the left took over our schools and now we get to see what they built for us.

Donald Trump may be remembered as the man who started the Second American Revolution and saved the country. Or he might be remembered as a just bandaid, a man who gave us a few final months to finish getting our preps in place before the balloon goes up.

We just failed to bring out the numbers in our base in enough numbers to overcome Democrat cheating.

I think we brought out the base just fine. It were the "Anybody but Hillary" voters that we lost. They were a significant part of Trump's victory.

"REVEALED: Democrats won control of the House of Representatives by the largest margin since..."
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Contrast the following prediction for 2018 midterm elections with analysis of the results of the election.

First, consider prediction of “tsunami” of Democratic election fraud for 2018 elections.

Researcher claims a ‘TSUNAMI’ of voter fraud coming in 2018 midterms

On the other hand, consider post-election analysis which indicates major problems for Democrats for 2020 elections.

So even George Soros is having major problems stopping the Trump Train.

Note that if Pres. Trump enforced the 12th Amendment and Section 2 of the 14th Amendment that his border wall probably wouldn't be as urgent. The 12th Amendment indicates that state winner-take-all laws for presidential elections are unconstitutional, while Sec. 2 of the 14th Amendment indicates that only citizens can vote in federal elections.

I’d be interested to know what the differential would have been if you take out the non-contested elections. My guess is that there were a lot of Dems that ran unopposed or against token opposition. Pug-ugly won her seat 256K to 39K, and my own small district east of SF went to the Demorat 186K to 66K.

This is similar to “Hillary won the popular vote”... unless you take Caliph-phony-a out of the equation!

Good post. The left wants to ‘change the demographic; and get the population to 400M + by 2040-2060. I won't be here but these people are determined to create a Turner Diaries dystopia only they don't have the sense to understand they are unleashing forces they cannot control. Whatever way it goes the period from 2050 to2150 will be looked back on as the American Dark Age.
