The levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, the main driver of climate change, have hit a new record high, the UN said Thursday, warning that the time to act was running out.
Ahead of the COP 24 climate summit in Poland next month, top United Nations officials are again trying to raise the pressure on governments to meet the pledge of limiting warming to the less than two degrees Celsius, enshrined in the 2015 Paris accord.
“Without rapid cuts in CO2 and other greenhouse gases, climate change will have increasingly destructive and irreversible impacts on life on Earth,” the head of the World Meteorological Organization Petteri Taalas said in a statement. “The window of opportunity for action is almost closed.”
In an open letter to all states ahead of COP24, UN rights chief Michelle Bachelet warned of cataclysmic consequences if the world does not reverse course. “Entire nations, ecosystems, peoples and ways of life could simply cease to exist,” she said, citing evidence that nations are not on track to meet the commitments made in Paris.
US President Donald Trump, who pulled his government out of the Paris agreement, again on Thursday appeared to cast doubt on climate science. “Brutal and Extended Cold Blast could shatter ALL RECORDS — Whatever happened to Global Warming?” he said in a tweet.
Asked to respond to Trump, deputy WMO chief Elena Manaenkova told reporters that the science underpinning global warming was ”unequivocal,” without challenging the US leader directly. …

New high. Yes, the percentage of CO2 went from zero point zero to zero point zero, but as usual they report it in PPM (parts per million) to make it sound like a substantial amount. The PERCENTAGE of CO2 in the atmosphere is 0.04% If that percentage ever got to 0.02% plants would start dying off and guess what dies off next? So F them with this crap, if it’s going up it can only be a good thing. More CO2 equals more plants which equals more food which equals more life but that will never happen in any substantial way because the CO2 level is too low as it is, just to get it up to 1% would be impossible short of the earth blowing up from a mega volcano. And then the methane hysteria. The percentage of Methane in this atmosphere is 0.00017%. So low that there’s probably more of Al Gores hot air in the atmosphere than Methane. I’m getting sick and tired of these scam artists comparing this to a 20,000 mile wide meteorite coming our way on a direct collision course with earth. Al Gore for the past 30 years has been saying in 10 years we’ll be past the point of no return. How long is he going to keep that up?

Exactly- yes, 400 ppm sounds like a lot, and hundreds of billions of tons of CO2 certainly sounds like a lot- and people hear that and freak out- but considering the atmosphere is nearly 6 QUADRILLION tons, that amount is nothing but a drop in the4 ocean

No sunspots mean weak solar wind, so fewer cosmic rays are deflected from Earth. More high altitude clouds, so more cooling.

Too much hot gases from the Democrats during the recent elections. Solution - ban Democrats. They talk too much, eat too much, and fart too much.
