Championing the cause of the poor, Pope Francis on Sunday lamented that the wealthy few enjoy what, in justice, belongs to all and said Christians cannot remain indifferent to the growing cries of the exploited and the indigent, including migrants.
Francis invited about 6,000 poor people as well as some of the volunteers who help them to the splendor of St. Peters Basilica where he celebrated Mass on a day the Catholic Church dedicates to the needy. Later, he sat down with 1,500 of the indigent for a lunch of lasagna, chicken, mashed potatoes and tiramisu in a Vatican auditorium.
In his homily, Francis said we Christians cannot stand with arms folded in indifference or with arms outstretched in helplessness about those in need. He cited the stifled cry of the unborn, of starving children, of young people more used to the explosion of bombs than happy shouts at the playground.
He also drew attention to the plight of abandoned elderly, the friendless and the cry of all those forced to flee their homes and native land for an uncertain future. It is the cry of entire peoples, deprived even of the great natural resources at their disposal.

Are you marked with the mark of the beast?
Come down Daniel to the lions’ den.
Come down Daniel and join in the feast.
Where is Becket the Cheapside brat?
Where is Becket the faithless priest?
Come down Daniel to the lions’ den.
Come down Daniel and join in the feast.

Does that include the pope who is sitting on over 25% of the worlds priceless art and jewels? Talk about rank hypocrisy!
Talk about ABORTION, POPE!
The pope is incorrect.
It all belongs to God. God decides who gets what. We are supposed to be content with what we have.
Sell the Vatican art and salvage the rest for its historical or scrap value and disband the Swiss Guard. THEN, I’ll believe he means what he says.
That was my reference.
Diocesan priests in the US make around $30,000 a year. They are expected to pay for their own food, transportation, and personal items of clothing, etc. (Lodging is generally provided.) Nobody gets rich off that.
They are not under a vow of poverty, however. If they inherit money, for example, they are permitted to keep it. A few priests may have time to have a business on the side. I would think a conservative would not object to either of those things.
But it doesn’t include the CC though, right? s/
How many millions does the Vatican have locked up in Vatican city?
The CC needs to learn how to live Matthew 6:21.
How about giving some of it back, you two-faced Sunday "preacher"?
I am done with the Catholic religion.
First you defend pedophiles, then you denigrate the very people that were defiled by the pedophiles, now you start insisting that I empty MY pockets even more, when your communist ass is sitting on a world-class FORTUNE.
Your crap just goes on and on...what's next, Papal approval of abortion?
No more.
I'm done.
Your Ivory Tower needs to fall.
You don’t expect the Vatican to let loose of any of its treasure to go to victims of sexual abuse by its own clergy do you? Come on, you’re just expecting too much.
“Better yet, Benedict - You dont even have to resurrect him God!”

If I were a Catholic that’s what I’d demand - dump Red Francis and put Benny back as first string-starter QB.
Penitenziagite !!!

There’s oodles of these jewel decked skeletons at the Vatican and throughout catholic churches around the world....They have this thing about dressing up skeletons and body parts in all sorts of ornate display cases for viewing....
