So overall, as I said, women are better drivers.
Safer is not better. Evil Knievel almost killed himself many times on motorcycle doing very difficult stunts. I ride motorcycles and have never had an accident. So am I better motorcyclist than Evil? I think not.
Depends on what you're qualifying by "better."
NO... You’re are attempting to define “better” as having fewer accidents. A small percentage of men who are excessive risk takers skews the results. The ability: Driving, has a range of characteristics that has to be considered when determining what is best. “Accidents” is only one characteristic.
Think of the population of male and female drivers as a bell curve and then remove the extremes at the ends. The average man will be better than the average woman. The worst male drivers will be worse than the worse female drivers and the best male drivers will be better than the best female drivers.
Statistically speaking men tend to have better spatial awareness than women. This translates into higher driving abilities. Look at the domination of men in the motor sports...
My sister has been in 5 accidents in the mildest climate on earth. I have never heen in an accident despite driving in 36 countries on both sides of the road from the biggest nastiest cities, to the windiest of mountain and jungle roads. Through blizzards, hurricanes, mudslides, dust storms. Its ok though, amazingly to have her tell it, none of the accidents were her fault, despite little things like tailgating.
Not to butt in on the argument...but this thread is about competitive activities. Not getting safely to the hair dresser and back.
I'll give you rallye driver Michèlle Mouton. (Biggest female name in motorsports ever. And even she managed only one second championship place in her career.) Name one other world class female driver.
In the history of Formula 1 racing (close to 100 years) all female drivers (yes, all 5 of them...) put together managed to gather a total of 0.5 (zero-point-five) career championship points. Zero-point-five.
Just because there are fewer cars on the sidewalk.
