Persecution of LGBTQ+ people by a Tanzanian governor appears to have resulted in Denmark withdrawing millions of kroner in aid to the developing country.
Minister for International Development Ulla Tørnæs said in parliament this week that the government will withhold 65 million kroner which was scheduled to be paid to the east African country this year.
I am very concerned over the negative developments in Tanzania, most recently with the completely unacceptable homophobic statements from a commissioner, Tørnæs, who did not name the official in question, said.
Respect for human rights is one of the most important priorities in Denmarks foreign partnerships. That includes the right not to be discriminated against based on sexual orientation, she added.
Paul Makonda, governor of Dar-es-Salaam, the largest city in Tanzania, recently called for residents to denounce gay and lesbian people to authorities.

That is truly frightening-—turning them into the government.
.
So they’re going to let people die over not liking gay sex enough?

I’m not sure what DENOUNCE means here.
Yeah, I DENOUNCE their lifestyle but it’s not the government’s @#$#$ing business.
Not to advocate for or against.
It bothers me that the LGBT here want an ACTIVIST government on their behalf. No.
But if DENOUNCING to authorities means them getting arrested or injured, then i’m against it.

That’s a little more than not like gay sex enough.
It sounds like imprisonment and worse for gays.
@#$@$ that. It’s not a crime.
Maybe Denmark should've withheld money for that.
Tanzania is also where Tanzanite is mined. It is used in jewelry because it is a flashy semi-precious gemstone that is loved by trendy females. It has also been a substantial source of income for the islamo factions that goes to supporting international terrorism.
Barely six million people, a GDP of 287 billion (139th in world) and yet they have foreign aid? Who knew and why?
Criminal behavior is the government’s purview.
This “lifestyle” is anti-family; that’s why Lenin was the first in the previous century to legalize it.
Racists.
Reminds me of the Zulus under King Dingane, murdering Boers while calling them “wizards”.
You can’t legislate morality.
But if you do, then arrest adulterers and fornicators too.
Those are DEVASTATING to the family.
But build a @#$#$ of a lot new prisons.
As well as alcohol.
It’s been historically INCREDIBLY destructive to families.
Actually, yes, it should have always remained illegal here too. If it had these perverts wouldn’t be running amuck right now corrupting everything they could lay their hands on.
It is utterly simple to demonstrate that these things, which because they were unlawful among the several States that ratified the Constitution, are therefore not among the Priviliges and Immunities referenced by A4:S2:C1 or the other rights retained in the 9th Amendment.
It is there.
I've been to Tanzania. In fact,of all the heartbreaking examples of third World poverty I've seen in Africa,Asia and South America the most shocking one,*by far*,was in Tanzania.
But on the plus side those oh-so-virtuous Danes will feel good about themselves...which is all that *really* matters.
The intent of the Founding Fathers was to have a society that was filled with people who would be free to choose morality of their free will, not to have a society where anything goes. That was a chief underpinning of the religious freedoms in the First Amendment.
It became “legal” due to judicial fiat here, to boot.
That would be Sharia. Tried and failed here under the Eighteenth Amendment.
