Broken Immigration Laws

Broken Immigration Laws

We hear this expression often and it is usually about people agreeing that somebody should correct the broken immigration laws but nobody does.

The reason no one does is that the immigration laws are not broken; they are just not strictly enforced. Any act prohibited by legislation and not challenged doesn’t make the act legal.

Who supports the narrative that a law not followed or enforced is broken? Some feel the immigration law is in need of “reform” to make what is currently illegal legal. President Trumps tends to oppose this position and I tend to agree with my president.

They are not practically enforceable.

...the immigration laws are not broken; they are just not strictly enforced.

The threshold question is whether the present immigration laws are even adequate; and, they plainly do not appear to be.

There is a federal ACT that criminalizes making a false citizenship claim to a registrar and that seems to be the extent of it.

Of course, there are number of laws that be sure to tell us who is allowed to vote, but none that provide ways to conduct or enforce at the local level determinations of citizenship - other than taking the word of the voter who may be a non-citizen.

“Under both US law and international law, anyone who seeks asylum at a port of entry into the United States must be received, allowed to request asylum, and referred to an asylum officer for the of review their claim.”

“Turning these people away from the border would mean that US authorities were breaking the law.”

https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2018/10/fact-vs-fiction-what-you-need-to-know-about-the-caravan-passing-through-mexico-on-its-way-to-the-usa/

No border wall will be effective as long as the invaders can ask any USCIS person at any port of entry for “asylum” and Article 23 welfare benefits and lightning fast Article 34 naturalization to start the chain migration process for their relatives.

The Republican Congress needs to denounce [get out from under] the Refugee Convention.

“Article 44 denunciation
1. Any Contracting State may denounce this Convention at any time by a notification addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
2. Such denunciation shall take effect for the Contracting State concerned one year from the date upon which it is received by the Secretary-General of the United Nations....”

President Trump made a big deal about sending the military to the border.

First screw up: Kirstjen Nielsen arranged for military medical units and humanitarian units to go to the border, not infantry.

Next screw up, General Mattis. It's back to business as usual as our military will play a behind the scenes role making coffee, cooking, washing cars, etc. for the Border Patrol. The military will not be involved with illegal invaders at all. It is a charade, bread and circuses to quite the peep: Says Mattis:

One thing he doesn't expect them to be doing "at this time" is having direct contact with the thousands of foreigners heading this way.

"Border security is part of national security," Mattis told reporters traveling with him. "Our units are in a position to enable the Border Patrol's law enforcement operations."

Just more bullsh** from our overlords. More lies as usual.

Are the immigration laws broken or they are being broken?

Both. Our immigration laws are written to give only the appearance of of strong enforcement. When it comes down to it they are week. The system can be easily overwhelmed which is what the caravan is all about.

The laws are not broken, they were carefully constructed to achieve the outcome we see now. Both parties are in on it that is why it can't be 'fixed' because its not broken.

They want their cheep labor, they want their cheep votes and they want you to pay for it.

Surly you can't expect our elite congress people to mow their own lawn or wash their own dishes. That would be below their exalted station in life.

The laws were intentionally made so they would NOT be enforced...

The reason Congress when through the motions of creating some immigration ‘laws’ was to hood-wink the 90% of Americans who object to millions of damn illegals driving down wages, voting for ONE part, causing school over crowing, destroy the ability of ER Hospital rooms to give emergency care cause their filled with illegals getting treated for runny noses ect and insult to injury - backing only one party - the party of corrupt liberals who have ‘bought’ their votes.

The bottom line to all this, besides the destruction of US sovereignty is money. It's all about money.

No, our immigration laws are broken. I absolutely support strict enforcement of all laws on the books, and I don’t support legalizing illegal behavior. And in general, our immigration laws if enforced would result in better outcomes than the status quo, where half of immigration is basically done illegally in one way or other other. But . . .

. . . our immigration laws are broken. First of all, we need to shift from family-based immigration and diversity-lottery immigration, fraudulent asylum claimants who never show up for their hearings, and temporary work visas that are abused by employers and immigrants alike, to MERIT-BASED immigration. There is absolutely no reason that we should not accept only those immigrants who have the MOST POTENTIAL to make a NET POSITIVE CONTRIBUTION to our society. And we should have a better way of facilitating and regulating the flow of non-immigrant workers who actually wanted and needed.

None of this is rocket science. To varying degrees (I’m looking at you Angela Merkel!) every other developed country does a better job with regulating immigration than we do. What stands in the way is that fact that Democrats will not sign off on immigration reform unless it both grants amnesty and prevents border and workplace enforcement, because they aren’t interested in good immigration policy, they are interested in importing new voters. For good reason, the GOP will not sign off on that, and so we’ve been in a stalemate since at least 2007 if not earlier.

It was those damn, nasty illegals who broke them. They work fine for normal, honest, hardworking decent human beings. It’s the thieves they don’t work for.
