The Bayonne Bridge was shut down in both directions Thursday afternoon, making for a worse commute for those driving in the snow, sleet and rain.
The bridge was shutdown by Port Authority due to slippery conditions and several cars becoming stuck on the incline of the renovated bridge, which is steeper than it used to be, spokesman Joe Pentangelo said.

WUT? I just watched the construction video. Guess they never looked at the I 10 bridge over the Pear River at the LA/ MS state line or the Industrial Canal bridge in New Orleans or perhaps the new Rigolets bridge on Hwy 90. Those guys have a lot more angle than that and are real nasty when they ice up.
They’re going to have to cover it or heat it.
Hell froze over? I didn’t know the Giants were playing, much less, actually won!
"...drive up incline in snow..."
I guess if they don’t bother PAINTING the bridge, you have a point. Where I live, the first thing they salt are the road bridges (and yes, most are made out of metal).
Interesting. Most Apt dwellers don’t have garages or driveways. They park on street and move car everyday. It costs like 500 bucks a month for a spot in underground parking lots.
the roadway is higher now. As you cross you are closer to the top.

The best thing about living in Pennsylvania...we aren’t New Jersey.
raised bridge but the approach on Bayonne side is nearly same location.... so steeper incline
I woke up to a yard covered in white “global warming” in central Alabama in mid-November. :)
Yep. 26 degrees here in Rome, NY. It was 19 degrees overnight. Had to brush snow off my car, and scrap ice off the windows this afternoon when I went out. Winter Storm warning from tonight until 10 a.m. tomorrow. Calling for 8-10 inches.
The same goes for beaches.
They built with GoreBull warming in mind.
The City of Fort Worth sold our snowplows for scrap several years ago because we will never need them again.
Guess what? We had one of our worst ice storms ever right after that and the city had to hire private companies with plows on pickup trucks.
That IS kool.
Bridge building is not unlike Rocket Science. One has to be good.
Bridge rebuilding is likely the purview of fewer yet.
I live in Central NY State, about 45 minutes east of Syracuse. We use all-season tires.
