We're Leaving California! Which Western State is Best? (Vanity)
Myself ^ | November 15, 2018 | A Navy Vet

Posted on 11/15/2018 8:37:13 AM PST by A Navy Vet

Since California now has a super majority in the Assembly/Senate and can and will legislate any tax or thing their little Socialist hearts desire, we are now committed to leaving. We will be part of the exodus from the Socialist Republic of California. It's going to be a historical migration within our Nation, if not already.

Since we are both Conservatives, we won't be bringing any of the Liberal/Socialist ideals with us and would make good neighbors.

You must mean Eastern WA. Western WA is deep blue, high cost of living, miserable traffic and overrun with your entitled betters. Oly peninsula might be better but you have idiot passive aggressive hostile flakes to contend with.

Note that any of the towns out there with “Port” in their name (Angeles, Townsend) is a socialist enclave.

I would suggest Eastern Washington.

Pros: Local Conservative goverments, warmer, drier, cheaper cost of living. Large military retirement area (nearest base is Fairchild AFB) Walla Walla VA hospital, great wine country, lots of golf courses, hunting and fishing areas, close to winter sport activities, summer boating, lower local taxes than the west (wet) side.

Cons: influx of Hispanic population from migrant workers/illegals, winters can be cold, but not much snow, and gray from air inversions, 2-3 hours from large population/shopping areas (Seattle, Portland, Spokane) at the mercy of the west side liberals for state government.

90% of the people in Oregon live within 25 miles of the I5 corridor. Eastern Oregon is cattle country. High, dry and lonely.

Some people that I grew up with in Orange County have relocated to the suburbs and outlying areas around Boise and they love it there. Real seasons, pro-2nd Amendment, a live-and-let-live vibe, and plenty of land for reasonable prices.

FYI, my neighbor’s 1-story house recently sold for a little over $870,000 so your value estimate for your home is probably spot-on.

Sandpoint Idaho is 50 miles south of me. Coeur d Alene is about 90 miles. its pretty big at 60K. It has every store that you can imagine. Almost non existent grafette, clean, and very very low crime........because a armed society is a polite society. concealed carry without permit, condo’s on the lakes, etc. Sandpoint is the same on a smaller scale.

Always!

Even though as my daughter says “WV’ians sure love their corrupt politicians!”. Her comment on Manchin winning!

I look for him to make his move in 2020. Shoot for President candidacy but goal is the Veep slot.

Cochise Co Arizona. I spent a while in Sierra Vista/Ft. Huachuca. Military town, very conservative, because of the elevation the weather is perfect year around. Not too hot in the summer, no traffic, beautiful desert. I’m going back to retire.

Northern Idaho or the Clearwater River valley.
As a lumber broker I have been to both several times visiting sawmills. I think it is the only place I would move to out west. The Coeur d’Alene area has really grow over the last few years for good reason. It has access to Spokane and its airport. Plus you have lakes, mountains, hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing, etc. Basically any outdoor activity within an hour drive.

From Spokane you can get flights to Denver, Seattle, Chicago, SLC with connections to anywhere in the world. It has better flights than Boise. Yes, they do get winter.

If you do not want winter. I would consider northern AZ. From the Prescott Valley up to Flagstaff. I have customers there that love there. You do get a little winter up in Flagstaff because of elevation.

He was talking about those FReepers who immediately bash anyone stuck in a Blue State. He wasn’t bashing you.

Where in OC are you located? We’re in Laguna Niguel and trying to sell our Home as well, so I am paying attention to all the suggestions being offered.

Just heard the dough faced Commie Rat Katie Porter pulled ahead of Mimi Walters in the never ending Vote Count in our neighboring District. We already lost Dana Rohrabacher and now this? My, how my wonderful OC has gone downhill.

"Reno has a lot of Republican clubs. Scottsdale had wonderful winters but the summers became unbearable. Some them spent their winters in Flagstaff. Reno is ‘up and coming’ even though I saw it as an armpit. I would give Idaho a try. Never been there."

Thank you. Reno is my favorite while Scottsdale is the Wife's, due to family living there. Yes, Reno has a lot of dregs, but has great suburban houses and then you have the city entertainment and Tahoe and all the open country. Scottsdale would be unbearable for me during summer. I don't understand how people can afford their utilities for a/c.

Flagstaff is a possibility. We've pretty much eliminated Prescott because of it's remote location. We would like reasonable access to an airport to visit family and travel.

Yes, curious about southern Idaho that often times misses the polar jet stream. Thanks again.

We did that... We moved from Ca and absolutely left all the ideology behind and have been fighting against it since. Why would we want to bring the very garbage we were leaving with us?

The difference is whether you are city folks or country folks. Leaving the city mentality behind and adopting country values is the huge difference with this.

Even in the big cities here there is a dominant country value culture. Only recently the city mentality and culture is starting to become evident in the cities.

We were already rural and hating on the liberal city culture being forced on us in the country so the move and assimilation was a perfect fit.

Tell you what... You DO NOT want to go to the Flagstaff area. It is about as blue as it can get because of it being a progressive college town.

We have lived all around (California, Missouri, New Mexico, Nebraska, DFW, etc), and West Texas is by far the best place we have lived. It is NOT the prettiest place we have lived in, but the people here in the Lubbock area are amazing. The little school I teach at is wonderul. Growing as a result, but it’s still a great place to raise kids.

We have our fair share of problems—nothing is perfect, but this is a place where being conservative is the norm. When I first starting working here after being away for many years, a co-worker was telling me about somebody I didn’t know. She said, “Well, she’s liberal. But other than that, she is really great.” After living is St. Louis, this made my day.

We have a 30-40 percent Hispanic population, but largely not the new immigrant/migrant type. Most have been here for generations and are just as conservative and country as the their neighbors. Most of my Hispanic students don’t even speak any Spanish. I grew up in Texas, so having Hispanic neighbors, friends, and co-workers is normal and fine to me but I feel the need to explain because I know some people feel differently than I do.

I am sure there are plenty of great places to move, but I do get pretty excited talking about our area because we love it so darn much. Like I said, not California gorgeous, but the people are a treasure!

We’re looking to move from Minnesota as it’s very blue and getting bluer by the day. The most conservative states in the country include the Dakotas and Wyoming. We’re looking at places in the Black Hills of western South Dakota and areas just to the west of that in eastern Wyoming. Pretty country!

Funny how Conservatives want to live in areas where they have something in common with their neighbors and can feel at peace, while lefties want to spread into conservative areas and stir up a bunch of strife and basically take over.

Your comparing democrats to cancer seems appropriate. They're constantly metastasizing.

Thank you so much for the detailed info. What's the weather like in your locale? Humidity? Bugs? We're spoiled here in the OC without bugs. Ha.

Can I contact you via Freepmail for more details. I'm amazed at the low cost electricity. We pay 3 times as much. Plus, I've never met a Texan I didn't like. So Dallas area is not like the socialist Austin?
